Hi,
Wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I bought a new bedstead and matteress from the same company recently - had it delivered yesterday. Everything with the bedstead seems fine. After assembling it and putting the matteress on there seems to be a 5cm gap around the bed between the matteress and the side of the bed stead - anyone tell me if this is normal?
I can appreciate there maybe a couple of cm gaps between the side of the matteress and the side of the bed (the hole in which the matteress goes into), however 5cm seems a bit too much to me. I can quite easily see my daughter getting her foot or something trapped in there. Its also a slatted bed, so where there is a gap there is nothing underneath it, i.e. if my daughter put her foot in it her foot would go through the bed stright down to the floor.
Can anyone tell me what the average gap between a matteress and the side of the bed should be?
Thanks
Different manufacturers vary. Are you sure one item wasn't continental size and the other UK?0 -
Thanks for everyone for their advice. I have just gone for this mattress:
http://www.bedkingdom.co.uk/MATTRESSES/Single-Mattresses/La-Romantica-Venice-Mattress1/
I have gone for it as a double bed with divan draws for me and a single bed mattress for my mum. I hope its as comfy as the ones we tried in Dreams... I had to go with the above site as their prices are so competitive and they offer free delivery. I will let others know how I get on with Bed Kingdom when they deliver next week...
My beds are arriving this afternoon. I can't wait! :j I will let everyone know what they are like and give as much feedback as possible as it seems the La Romantica Venice is a popular make and model on here! :T0 -

The memory mattress has a combination of 5cms high 6lb density viscoe elastic memory foam and a base support of (15cms) reflex foam for extra stability and comfort. With a velour 4 way stretch knit fabric (machine washable).
Any help appreciated.

I think whoever gave you that spec was telling you porkies...........The bed in the listing is supposed to be a reflex foam/latex foam mattress (not memory foam) with a damask divan base, but it shows a leather bed.0 -

I have been looking at this make as well so will be interested to hear what you think, and also how you got on with that company. Cheers.0 -
Can anyone recommend a hypo-allergenic mattress with or without latex please? I have mild dust mite allergy.
- My budget is £500-£100.
- I'm not a memory foam fan
- I sometimes wake up with lower back pain so I'm looking for something that's medium to firm
At the moment I'm looking at:
Sealy Tranquility Latex @ Argos £440 http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6606336/Trail/searchtext%3EMATTRESS.htmSnootchie Bootchies!0 -
I quite fancy the La Romantica Roslin. Does anyone think this is ok ? Please feel free to chat via PM0

I seem to recall that Tim Deegan has said on more than one occasion that mattresses are not cheap at Argos unless they are in a sale/discontinued.0 -
Have you got this yet?. Would like to know your opinion. Its one that we have been considering for quite a while and wondered if its worth the extra money compared to some of the others. I can sleep on anything but she needs something to give her extra support under her spine and hip area.
Not been delivered yet, will let you know as soon as i've tried it out, can't wait as the new bedstead arrived yesterday( http://www.artisanfurniture.co.uk/artisan_item_details.asp?pid=&uid=439&range=1&collection=278), assembled it last night and used the old mattress,as i said can hardly wait0
