Time has come to look for a mattress. Memory foam seems to be in at the moment and to me it makes logical sense. I popped into IKEA the other day to look at what they offer and saw an expensive one that seemed pretty good. It was made up of memory foam for the comfort/support etc and had a layer of natural fibre (wool) dissipate moisture and prevent getting too hot.

There was also a cut out section with clear plastic revealing the inside and its make up.

Whats the opinion of anyone who has this mattress and any one involved in the industry?

I know it is a very long thread, but if you read back through this and some other threads you will see that both my opinion and that of many others is that the quality of Ikea mattresses isn't up to the standards of UK made mattresses.
  • I regret buying the cheapest sprung Ikea heberg mattress, its just too soft, dont know what their other ones are like though. Hopefully my future lodger wont mind it too much though!

So any one got any other suggestions before I order the Airsprung double firm bed from argos?

As a general rule, the only items that are cheap at Argos tend to be either cheap quality or reduced to clear.
  • Well I have not been able to find any alternatives, dreams are more expensive, dont want to do ikea again, where else is there? I dont know of any reputable online suppliers, unless any one has any recommendations.

There are 100's of reputable on line sellers that will give you a far better deal than the big retailers.

    Try looking on Yell.com

Looking on Yell is ok, but if you don't really know what you are looking at it doesn't help.

Can anyone recommend a good make? I have read so many bad things about Sleepmaster, Silentnight and many others, now i don't know what makes are any good

Has anyone got a brand that they think 'wow, this is a fantastic bed'!!! :D

Sleepeezee are around middle of the range.

You get more for your money with the smaller independent manufacturers who haven't automated production.
