Bye the way, I have a memory foam mattress with coolmax cover at the moment. Ok if you can't get warm at night, it's very comfortable but boiling hot. Good job it's got a coolmax cover or I'd probably have roasted to death by now. ML
Coolmax works by taking the moisture away from your body. It doesn't actually cool you. The reason it is so hot is because it is reflex foam with memory foam, which doesn't allow the heat to dissipate from the memory foam.0 -
i am after a double bed and this is the second cheapest one from argos with a firm mattress (ikea heberg is too soft for me) other than the cheap cloud nine one with bad reviews.

is this good for the money or should i look anywhere else? not sure if i would want a used bed, any views on this?0 -
Hi
I'm looking for a reasonably priced kingsize divan and mattress. At the moment i have a bed frame and a Sleepvendor (i think) mattress. The mattress has been really good but is about 10 years old now!!
any suggestions would be great

I wanted to keep away from the larger named manufacturers as you advise but the only one I nearly considered was a Durabed but I couldn't find much information about them but the mattress was comfortable, it had a layer of mesh round the sides
between the pocket springs and memory foam. ML

You will get a better quality bed for less money from many on line stores.0 -
You're so right Tim, I should have bought a mattress from someone who knows what they are talking about. Mine has 15cm reflex foam 40kg/m3, 6cm memory foam 80kg/m3, 2 layers of hydrofill 200g/m2 and coolmax cover. Not cheap, bought from a reputable Yorkshire furniture retailer who obviously didn't know what they were talking about.

If you are in Yorkshire then you are in right area to find a good quality independent manufacturer, as that is where most of them are. I haven't actually heard of Durabed either.0 -

Is there a list anywhere of independent manufacturers in Yorkshire? or can anyone recommend some

Time has come to look for a mattress. Memory foam seems to be in at the moment and to me it makes logical sense. I popped into IKEA the other day to look at what they offer and saw an expensive one that seemed pretty good. It was made up of memory foam for the comfort/support etc and had a layer of natural fibre (wool) dissipate moisture and prevent getting too hot.
There was also a cut out section with clear plastic revealing the inside and its make up.
Whats the opinion of anyone who has this mattress and any one involved in the industry?0
