Hi with regard to my previous post about the guy on ebay with the mattresses that were apprently 2.5" memory foam and also 65kg/m3 he had beds for sale that looked like the same specs for the same price £199 + £30 del so i questioned and this was his answer

"the diven bed has a 12.5 gage spring in it the mattress alone has a 1500 pocket spring in it they are not the same mattress.they both have the 3 inch memory foam on the spring, the memory foam is 3 inches and the density is 65kg/m3, the mattress are made in the uk, and are not seconds thanks"

based on that tim would you still say to avoid it? to be honest i know you say not to go any higher than like 2.7" but really i cant see that there would be any noticeable difference between 2.7 and 3?

    would appreciate you input

I'm not knocking mattressman, but when are people going to realise that companies don't just give away money, so all the money you get back by using quidco has just been added on to the price of the goods. It's just an advertising ploy to make people think they are getting something that they aren't.

I agree, it's like interest free credit, companies could not afford to do that, it is already added to the price. You get nowt for nowt.

Sorry, to answer the OP and IMHO, I would be tempted to stick with a firm pocket sprung one. More reasonably priced and still good for your back.

It is tough that you cant try before you buy, but I know that '100% satisfaction is guaranteed', so am sure you will get a great service and any problems will be resolved amicably ;)

LA ROMANTICA. Madrid Memory Foam and Pocket Sprung Double Divan Beds. From 419.00

Anybody on this forum has bought one of those bed? I have read the post of "which mattress on the forum" and am still confused. What stops me from buying this bed is I cannot check it on the department store as it seems it sells only online? I like to know what I buy. Would appreciate some feedback on this!! I am a back pain sufferer and wonder whether I should go for an orthopaedic mattress or a memory foam one. Thanks

I thought someone had posted their opinion of this bed/mattress on this site, however, I think what I had read was feedback on EBAY, they bought the mattress from BEDLUMBEDS. They sell beds on line. They were very happy with the mattress. Google that name and you will see all the feedback.

Your argument is only valid when you can provide a link to many mattresses that are cheaper than mattressman's otherwise what you are saying is pure assumption.

If the springs are 12.5 gauge then it is open coil sprung and not pocket sprung.

I actually say that you shouldn't go above 2.5", but 2" is better. And yes that extra inch can make a big difference in overheating you because it is another inch that the foam can engulf you, therefore reducing you skin area exposed to the air to help your bodys natual cooling.

I would say that you should ask him to be honest and tell you how he sells them so cheap. Also what is his return policy if you don't like it.

Mattressman isn't the cheapest on the market by far. They are just one of the biggest on line stores.

It's not just pure assumption, I'm in the trade remember, so I know how it works.

As I previously mentioned, I can't/won't list products as that could be seen as advertising.

What I have been doing is educating people so that they can be armed with information when they do shop around.

By the way, Kozeesleep don't make a two sided pocket sprung/memory foam mattress.

Okay I still need to buy a decent mattress. I've been following this thread but I'm still not any closer to it. Now I was thinking of getting the Relyon memory foam advanced 1250 (or 1420) for £499 for the double, however Tim has said this isn't a two sided mattress.

Can anybody give examples of a two sided pocket sprung memory foam mattress that they have bought and are happy with? I don't think Tim will list any as per the above.

    Thanks
