Been to John Lewis and chosen the Vi-Spring Craftsman for £795 :D Lifetime guarantee, hand made and we are having it made with one side firm and the other medium. Definitely worth the hundred odd pounds extra over the dreams mattress.

You really should double check about the suitability for use on a slatted base. It appears that JL are giving out the wrong information.

    Hello Tim,

So you would recommend Healthbeds mattresses then.
Can you put these on any divan or base without a problem.
What about the weight of this particular one. I thought they would be quite a light product to carry being foam, but I think they have said they are very heavy and require a 2 man job. I understand they don't need to be turned either which is a bonus is that right.

The websites I mentioned were the cheapest I could find on googles product search.
If any body can do better than these please post

Tim please help me we are trying to spend as little on a foam/pocket sprung mattress as possible.

This guy is selling one for around £230 delivered

I asked him two vital questings, the memory foam layer thickness and the density. His answeres seem promising....

"the thickness of the memory foam is 2.6inches and the density is 65kg/m3 thanks"

    Please help tim..

Would that be okay do you think? If not do you know of any alternatives for a similar if not better price for equivalent or better quality. Thanks

My opinion, after reading this whole thread, it seems it's quite clever marketing, the manufacturers are trying to turn an economy into a feature.

The truth is they can't be turned. The non turn mattresses are basically a regular mattress that have a sleeping surface on only one side, i.e. when that side becomes lumpy/worn you have to change mattress rather than have a whole new side to use.

Thus having only half the lifespan.

  • Hi,

Like everybody, after reading the 11 pages of this thread, I am still really confused on which bed to go for.
Looking to replace a ikea malm with memory foam mattress who literary broke our back...
    My Notes:
    - Pocket Sprung
    - Minimum of 1000 spring
    - Medium to Firm
    - Turnable
    - Non foam filling

    Brands: La Romantica, Kozeesleep.

Any advance on models, where to try the bed and/or buy online?

Appreciate Tim's advice, but like some other people mentioned, it will be good to have a proper list of beds to go for....

    thx

    confused....

If you want reflex foam/memory foam, and you don't mind paying over the odds, then yes I would recommend them. However as many people on here know I recommend pocket sprung/memory foam, as they give far superior support.

Non turn is deffinately not a bonus. The main reason why manufacturers why manufacturers make non turn mattresses is to cut costs as the memory foam in the most expensive part of the mattress. The truth is that they won't last as long as a two sided mattress.

A pocket sprung/memory foam mattress for under £200 rings alarm bells with me, as you couldn't make a good quality one for that price.

I suspect that they are seconds.

It says on the listing that the memory foam is 3" deep, but you say it is 2.6". You say that the density is 65kg/m3, but the listing just says high density. The listing also fails to mention that it is a non turn mattress. There is also no mention of make or model......is it your listing on ebay by any chance?

As I previously mentioned, I can't/won't list products as that could be seen as advertising.

What I have been doing is educating people so that they can be armed with information when they do shop around.

By the way, Kozeesleep don't make a two sided pocket sprung/memory foam mattress.
  • Hey Tim, any news on a bed I should go for?
