Please keep this thread on topic.

While you may believe that arguing in this thread (with 'he said this' and 'you said that') about beds and mattresses is on topic, it is preventing members from finding useful or helpful information.

This thread has many pages and posts. Argumentative posts will not benefit people and help them to save money.

GOING OFF-TOPIC

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: While it’s easy to wander off-topic that often prevents newbies finding the information they want quickly and easily (please see this rule). Please keep this thread on topic. If you’d like to discuss non-MoneySaving related topics please continue your discussion in The MoneySavers Arms or Discussion Time. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

I will report this thread to the MSE Forum Team.

• Good evening,AT LAST Someone out there that can see beyond the smokescreen put out on the "La Romantica" forum ! I for one , and i am sure there are many more like me would NEVER have heard of this company if it wasnt`for this site. AS for the advice you get from Mr Deagan,i think of him the same as i would if i was to buy a car.Would you believe the salesman? He never speaks highly of anything other than pocket sprung, double sided memory foam mattresses.WHY you may ask? Is this the only mattress in the whole world that is any good for the money?OR could it be that he is just about the only one on the planet that sells them! No matter what you have in mind he either rubbishes them or makes out you are paying too much for them. Is there NO other bed manufacturer that can make a decent bed? All this talk about "sorry i cannot comment about this item as i sell them "is cobblers, because within minutes some "Deegan"worshipper comes along and tells people about his Ebay shop and the name of it. I once mentioned on here i had heard how good an item was,in reply to another members over a particular mattress and both our posts were erased, but then again we were talking about a latex mattress which Mr Deegan does`nt sell. You have found youself an exellent FREE advertising web here, hav`ent you Tim? AS the saying goes........You cant` fool ALL the people ALL of the time. These are purely my observations and i am not looking to start an argument with Tim or anyone else. I will now sit back and wait for my comments to be removed.Goodnight.

It's about time people got their facts right before they start making personal attacks.

To start with I don't recommend brands on here, I only give general advice about the best types of mattress.

As for google searches, I don't know what search criteria some of you are entering to come up with just my site, but there are many other sellers of similar products out there. In fact quite a few were mentioned only a few pages ago.

I don't give my web site or my business name on here, and I don't mention the products I sell.

I only give general advice on types of mattress and specification. And I don't comment on anything I sell.

Many of the people who have mentioned my company have actually been people making personal attacks on me.

So after 100's of people have contacted me thanking me for honest and impartial advice, why is it that some people are so paranoid as to think that just because someone sells something, that they can't be a genuine person who could actually want to help people without any personal gain.

And who says I don't sell latex mattresses?

Yet again I'd like to invite anyone who has a problem with my integrity to phone me.

As yet I have to be convinced that the people making personal attacks are actually retailers themselves.

So thets just get on with the spirit of the forum, and stop going off topic with personal attacks and arguments.
• I am looking to replace a 5' kingsize mattress. It is a Westbury SleepVendor "Supreme pocket sprung quality" according to the label and I recall it being relatively expensive at the time I bougt it. I have used it regularly for approximately 15 years and suprisingly it is still very comfortable.
I do not have the exct spec. It is 20cm deep and sits on a divan which is sprung to the edge.

Can anyone please advise of an equivalent mattress available now? Also can anyone advise how I access Tim Deegan's Guide?
• I'm looking to buy a Pocket Sprung or Memory Foam Mattress.

After reading this thread I feel better informed, largely thanks to Tim Deegan, however it's also beginning to feel like simply buying a good bed at a good price is turning into one of the most complicated decisions I'll ever make!

So I thought I'd summarize where I stand and see what people's opinions are: From what I've read here and seen elsewhere, if you buy any one of the following you will get a very good mattress that will last...some will be a little better and some will be more expensive...

Vi-sprung
Warren Evans
Kozeesleep / Restus
Kozee sleep
La Romantica Beds*

(
*I've added Romantica Beds knowing what every veteran of this thread knows because everyone who bought via this thread was/is happy with their purchase)

If people would like to comment or add to this list that would be great, it be good if I could use this forum to help me make a better informed decision....

I didn't know I had a guide???

It looks like Sleep Vendor no longer do the Westbury. However you could contact them to either find out what the spec was, so that you could find an equivalent. Or to find out what they have replaced it with.

You can't read Which reports online unless you subscribe. I think there is a £1 trial you can take. I always go to the library if I want to read a Which report.

The report came out in 2006 so is probably out of date now in many aspects, and is probably no longer available.

I've actually had a long conversation with which magazine in which we discussed many considerations that need to be taken account of in the next report. If I remember rightly the next report is due out this year.
• Looking to buy a pocket sprung mattress. (Hope this isn't too similar to the other thread on mattresses).

Have looked in "Dreams" shop and found a bed and they do have pocket sprung mattresses too but just wondering if they are any good.

Could anyone recommend a good place to get a pocket sprung matttress from or is one from Dreams ok?

Would like to get a good quality one which will last.

Would really appreciate any advice given.

Thank you very much.
