Tim_Deegan wrote: »If the mattress has memory foam on both sides then it would be ok with gaps of up to 3". If it only has pocket springs on the side that is in contact with the slats then you would either have to add extra slats to close the gaps up to 1", or you could use peg board (hard board will do) to spread the weight out.
If the slats bow upwards toward the middle would peg board or hardboard be flexible enough? What thickness would be best to consider?0 -

I have just bought the Siena Kingsize from Homebase that was on offer at £150 back up to £199 now http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=20001&langId=-1&q=SIENA&pp=20&c_1=1|cat_12079494|Furniture+SALE|13012956
Is a pocket sprung mattress ok for this with the slats the way they are? or as above will I also need some board before I put the mattress down?
Anyone else got a good mattress combo for this bed?0 -

As it has sprung slats then a 2 sided pocket sprung/memory foam would be ok, but for any other pocket sprung mattress you would be better off using peg board or hard board.0 -
Hi Bargainbagger, sorry for delay, losing interest in the big bed debate. Well done for finding all of these people. I think sending a personal email would be a good idea, but I'm not sure how to do it. Can I be cheeky and ask if you know can you contact them and report back!

I want to buy a mattress protector for my bed. It is half way in size between a double and a single bed. What do you call this size?
If you know of any companies that sell mattress protectors for this size then this would help .. At least if I know what the size is called then I can google for the company selling the protector.

Beds like that used to be called three quarter beds, not sure if they still are or not though. They tend to do them in caravans where space is at a premium. If practice makes perfect, and nobody is perfect....................................
