I'm thinking the same as you and it seems from his excellent summary that philjp0 has the same problem. I would like to try first and/or get feedback from someone(other than TD!) who has used a La Romantica Madrid or Venice for more than just a week or two.
To this end I've just done a trawl through the 100 odd pages of this thread
- that actually only go back about 6 months - to find references to these mattresses by members. Perhaps we could contact them by private message/direct email if this posting doesn't provoke a response from them?
This is what I've found............
10/8/08 - StormFusion was enquiring about the price of the Madrid.
17/8/08 - walke_mr asked TD re merits of the Venice over the Madrid.
06/9/08 - Wistful interested in Venice, but then seemed to consider others.
22/9/08 - Slipthru had just got a Madrid and recommended it.
22/9/8 - loulou41 interested in Madrid/Venice,asked Wistful for feedback. (Ignore - subsequently posted that bought a Slumberland.)
13/10/08 - Broke-Bloke had Venice for a month and recommended it.
19/10/08 - newbuyer decided to go for Venice.
19/10/08 - Wistful asked newbuyer to post what he thought of Venice.
7/11/08 - buss had just got a Madrid saying nicest slept on and quality.
7/11/08 - Decola ordered Madrid after reading buss posting.
14/11/08 - aligreg thinks will go for Madrid.
24/11/08 - siosio had got Venice and very happy with it.
6/12/08 - sanfly has name of a supplier in Hampshire who had Madrid &
Venice in stock but didn't know if he was allowed to post name.
11/12/08 -misterfish bought Madrid 4 weeks ago - glowing recommendation.
Certainly it would be good if we could find out the name of the Hampshire stockist from sanfly.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
basically broke as a badger so decided to get a bed second hand, not the best idea I have had in the world but was a Myers pocket sprung divan 8 months old for £60 - too good to be true - actually yes - turns out the whole thing smells of damp - went through whole bottle of fabreeze and aired it for a week to no avail as well as every home remedy i could try even put baking soda on it for 24hrs and spotted parts with cinnamon (natural anti-fungal apparently)
The base is solid so think the smell is really coming from the mattress - what is the cheapest good matress I can buy - I have seen that the open spring type are cheaper what are the disadvantages over a pocket sprung - I am a 17st guy if that has any weighting- can I get one for £100 even that would be a lot at the moment but could push maybe to £120 inc delivery.

We have quite a nice Iron-Bed-Company/Feather&Black slatted double bedstead.
We did have a good quality pocket sprung mattress (originally on our sprung edge divan) on it - but wifey complained about this being a tad uncomfortable (was OK on the divan base).
So bought a posture sprung slumberland mattress a couple of years ago, as I understand from internet advise that pocketed springs can slip between the slats. So thought this was a safer bett.
Unfortunately wifey now complaining about this one - hips aching in morning.
So on hunt for 3rd mattress in as many years.
Is memory foam the best option? I have laid out enough over the last 3yrs and don't wish to bankrupt myself. What would the "experts" recommend?
BTW, In terms of firmness of mattress I would say medium.0 -
Just wonder how often do you have to rotate a single sided memory foam mattress lengthways!! The mattress is very heavy. Thanks0

thanks in advance
