    Tim,

So what is the criteria for picking a pocket sprung only mattress then. Any brand names come to mind?

I can't recommend any brands or sellers on here I'm afraid.....sorry

So would you recommend I replace my chipboard then Tim ?

Need to find somewhere that sells peg board - is it a B&Q thing ?

    Cheers

If you are happy with the firmness of the chip board then I wouldn't bother changing it. If you do want extra ventilation to combat the problem that reflex foam can get very sweaty, then get the old black and decker out and drill loads of holes in it.

    Hi
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the maker Memorize
Was looking at this one in particular:
    http://www.mattressnextday.co.uk/mattress/20/-Memorize-Memory-ortho/

We're looking at a new mattress, king size, budget, will be straight on the floor (don't ask!), I suffer with lower back pain when on a mattress

    thanks for any help!

when I say budget I mean low budget, £250 tops. Is it possible to get something of quality for this money?

Possibly if you go for open coil sprung with memory foam.

OK, but what should I look out for, specification wise, fabric wise etc?

They are a better choice, although I'd be a bit wary about the Dorlux in case you ever have a problem with it. They went into liquidation then were bought out by the owner's brother a couple of weeks agao.

OK... I've read through a fair chunk of this lengthy thread, and have ascertained that the 'ideal' mattress would appear to have the following:

    - V60 foam (optimum depth between 2" and no more than 2.5")
    - Double sided
    - 1000 to 1800 springs

I'm 6' 4", and have quite bad back problems (about to see a spinal physiotherapist because I have rampant sciatica charging down my right leg courtesy of my lower back), so I'm assuming a sprung/memory foam combo would be best for me. Problem is, there are so many to choose from, that even with the above 'ideal' criteria, I can see hundreds to choose from... I need an 'IKEA' king sized mattress. What are the La Romantica Madrid/Venice ones like that were shown a few pages back?]

Thought I would leave a bit of feedback on the regularly recommended 'Madrid'.......
Well after lots of reading on this site, and a couple of years of sleeping on a very bad silentnight mattress, went to a fairly local bed store and tried a wide range of mattresses, based on my new found knowledge, from this site. Hubby & I kept coming back to a pocket sprung with memory foam (although they only stocked 1 sided foam) and was a couple of hundred pounds more expensive than the Madrid.
Contacted Tim's company, as able to easily find on the internet and decided to go with the La Romantica Madrid, as both like a fairly firm mattress and with the guarantee he offers ,felt very happy with our purchase.

Last Friday, the day before the delivery, we received a call from the 2 delivery men to give us a time of dlivery and they arrived on the dot. Carried upstairs and explained the turning process and that mattress would probably take a couple of days to get to room temperature.

Looked very luxurious, and higher than our sorry excuse of a bed which is now waiting collection by the council. Also went for the memory foam pillows (1 each) to complete things.

Bedtime arrived and what a joy it was. Had reduced our bed size from superking to king as didn't have the funds, but had decided to go for as good a quality as we could afford & we have not been disappointed. However, as we weren't fidgeting to get comfortable, the reduced size was not a problem at all. It is so, so very comfortable. Not too firm (although obviously this is highly subjective) not too hot, pillows are great as well, although they had a slight smell for the 1st 4/5 days and more importantly, we feel very supported, so wake up having had a very good nights sleep.

Can not recommend the bed enough...:T nor the service we have received from Tim, both here & via his company. Need to get a single mattress for our eldest daughter so will be in touch with him soon to get another of the La Romantica range, but budget end. Good service, free advice and general common sense seem to be sadly lacking these days, but not for us with this purchase.

Buying without trying a bed can be daunting, but if you can try something locally, as similar to the 1 you are after, and the on-line company offer a satisfaction guarantee scheme then it has to be better than going to the main bed stores who charge a fortune.

Hope this has been of help to those of you interested in the Madrid. :rotfl:

Buy it....your back and you deserve a good nights sleep!
