Well it was from HoF. How did you know that?
Google searched it here, and it was the only supplier, so must be made specifically for them. Usually means reduced quality, high mark up like the Dreams beds that promise to beat any other price but dont tell you they are the only supplier in the country ;)

  • The missus stipulates 4 drawers, yes.

    You must conform then ;)

Will the refund only be in HoF vouchers or complete refund to buy elsewhere? Ideally you'd be able to get to a smaller retailer and get a much better quality for potentially 2/3 of the price (have already found a decent one with sprung base, 4drawers, King size and medium feel for under £700 delivered). Online is so much cheaper and if you know what to look for you can still get quality at reasonable prices...

Unfortunately (for you), the La Romantica range appear to be almost solely sold online, except some northern independant dealers in the Yorkshire area. You could try a 'similar' spring count and memory foam matress for comfort and just make sure you chose a supplier with good customer service and returns policy?! It's been recommended enough times to know it's a good feel and quality, you just need to know if it suits your sleeping preferences!

Other recommended brands have been Staples/Harrison/Restus/Relyon...

Been looking for a new bed for 24 hours and already I am going insane.....
We tried several today and most of them were just too soft for my husband, as he is very much heavier than the average man. Complete memory foam is out, and we didnt find a firm enough pocket spring with memory foam upper bit that we liked, we did try a millbrook 5ft ortho spectrum firm comfort which hubby loved and although i thought it was comfy I would have preferred a slightly softer feel, so the lady in the shop added a health beds memory topper and I loved it. Hubby found it very comfy too and was happy that it wasnt too squdgy, some were just like laying on a bouncy castle!
they have offered us the both for £690!! Slightly more than I was expecting to spend!
I see people recommend the LR Madrid as a firmer option, but how firm is firm??
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be greatful.

I am interested in having a try of this one from John Lewis. Its a fair saving on the Millbrook one.

The link no worky, but I dont see the attraction of JL  you will always pay over the odds there so they can afford to offer the extended warrenties, and the warrenties have extended clauses in that mean you'll rarely actually get anything back if they go wrong anyway! JL are not a bed specialist, so cant see why they'd be a good place to buy one...it's a bit like buying a TV from the butcher!?

The attraction at the moment is I will actually be able to go and view the mattress and test its firmness! I found out yesterday that quite a few that were firn enough for me felt like wobbly jelly when my hubby joined me on the bed. He weighs over 26 stone and what feels firm to me felt very soft when he tried it.
