I purchased a memory foam mattress a few years back and it has caused me no end of sleepless nights. Its too warm, I tend to get hotter and hotter while I sleep so I'm continually on the move trying to keep cool and as a result I'm never well rested.

I intend to buy a new traditional pocket sprung mattress to replace the above before my health gets any worse.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I think Tim will be here with an answer soon, but I remember him saying on another post that if you want memory foam, have it on top of a pocket sprung mattress, then the air can circulate and you won't be so hot, but with a memory foam only bed, there is nowhere for the air to circulate.

Hope I am right here, if not, I am sure Tim will correct me.
  • Has any body tried a Tesco mattress?

The price makes me a bit wary, just wondered if it was any good?
    Thanks

Is your mattress completely memory foam or is it a pocket sprung memory foam mattress?

    Thanks
  • I like this: http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-1974.aspx

Offer finally received... I have to pay £170 'towards' a replacement!? It only cost £250 new! They will be getting another email shortly to explain my disgust at this offer, but if they dont do any better I will be buying a better brand elsewhere for not a lot more than their 'contribution' price!!!
They are offering me the Silentnight Montreal pillow top for £167.99. It's £329.99 at Argos, but is it any better? Is it worth the risk getting a Silentnight one again?

    Help please...

Ok, officially annoyed at Silentnight now!

Emailed them because I found out they charge the customer 40% plus delivery as a 'warrenty'. 40% of the £249.99 we paid is £100 and they gave me a link to the Argos price at £329.99, so i offered to collect it and save the extortionate delivery charge.

    Responce?

'We charge 40% of the current price, not the price you paid, and you cannot collect the item as it's Silentnights warehouse and they only deliver, plus it's in Lancashire (so not anywhere near me anyway).'

The product is faulty, yet they will only supply me a new one if I pay a percentage of the current prices and their ridiculous delivery charge which they make money on too?! They win either way, and it's their policy to do this for warrenty so I have no comeback? Wish I knew that to start with :(

They will get NO more business from me, and I will tell everyone that asks Silentnight are a rip-off, their products are poor and customer service next to useless!

The only ones sleeping easy are the employees and shareholders...on a bed of £50 notes, my hard earned money!

I would contact Trading Standards today. A mattress, or anything else for that matter, even if it is guaranteed for 1 year, and then out of that guarantee, should be expected to last for a reasonable time.

If they have admitted that the mattress is faulty then it is up to them to either exchange or refund I believe, if it is not repairable, which seems very unlikely. I think they are just trying to put you off. Also, try posting on the consumer vent board you might get some more comments on there.

Your guarantee is extra to your legal rights.

I think I like the sound of the La Romantica range, but does anyone know where I can try them out? I'm in Essex but will be in and around Yorkshire over the next couple of weeks - I think that's where they are made??

Type the name and stockists in to google and that should hopefully tell you.

    Good luck
