I like the brushed silver effect on this, also the frame is alright- I want somehting homely and comfy looking- unlike the Wilkinson one this one looks more comfy and homely lol

    Also this one is nice:

It can be silver or ivory. I hope you kind of get the kinda bed I am after. With a nice frame, slatted base. Want a double but would go for a king if its not too much.
    Appreciate all help Tim!

Ok, leave it with me, and I'll see what I can find.

    Hi,

I hope this is the right place to ask this question. Seems to be the latest thread. I need to buy a king size memory foam mattress which will go on a divan bed and a double size memory mattress that will go on like a bed stand sort of bed - sorry not sure how to describe it. Its basically a metal frame with no drawers. A bedstead perhaps?

Judging by what Tim was saying earlier, is it not possible to have the Madrid mattress on the king sized divan? Would the Madrid only be suitable on the double bed bedstead (frame type)?

    Thanks

    Hi.

I think you misunderstood me. You can use any mattress on a divan base, in fact you can buy the Madrid complete with a divan base.

As for the bedstead, I presume it has slats? If so then as long as they are no more than 3" apart then it would be fine for the Madrid.
  • I just bought a Airsprung Mattress from www.wilkinsonplus.co.uk for £99 for a double. Its for my DD so cant say if its comfy as everyones comfort differs, but seems as though it is pretty firm.

Oh dear I was all set to order this after being enticed by the half price offer

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6673194/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+and+furniture%7C10197552/c_2/2%7Ccat_10197552%7CBeds%7C10197645/c_3/3%7Ccat_10197645%7CKingsize+beds%7C10197681.htm

Ive got a right dilema now I thought it was a good deal for the price and would have got interst free on Argos card as well.

They have changed the customer service operator dealing with my complaint, which took some time to organise, and the new girl's a bit dappy (can't read a publisher file, and said, and I quote 'Can you change it to something called a jpeg, if you understand what that is...'?!?

Im pestering them daily, but getting no real responces just yet. Is there a higher authority that you know of Tim which I may be able to get involved to lean on them a bit?! ;)
Offer finally received... I have to pay £170 'towards' a replacement!? It only cost £250 new! They will be getting another email shortly to explain my disgust at this offer, but if they dont do any better I will be buying a better brand elsewhere for not a lot more than their 'contribution' price!!!

Apart from the brand, the other thing wrong with that mattress is the fact that it is a pillow top. Depending on the type of fillings they can end up creating a hollow where you sleep after a while. Also it makes the mattress non turn, which means that the springs won't last as long.

    Joke

So you have to pay most of the cost of the mattress after 2 years........it appears that even Silentnight realise that their mattresses don't last very long.

Well, am I glad I found this site!

Just been to Dreams and nearly bought a non-turn pocket spring with foam on top mattress for £630. Would that have been a mistake? Their divan base was only an extra £70 which looked like a good deal.

Harveys had something similar which we nearly went for too.

Tim, I think we would like to hear your opinions! Yes we know you sell beds but my guess is you are an independent and can give a relatively unbiased view of what's best.

We're now thinking we should go for a pocket spring turnable with no foam.

We want a new mattress and a divan base. How much should we pay to get a good one without overpaying? Where to buy and which makes to consider and particularly which makes to avoid?

We needed a mattress for the spare room in a hurry, we have company coming soon. The advice from Tim helped me, I would not even look at a non turn mattress, a pillow top or a tempur. I could not find a pocket sprung with memory foam on both sides so we opted for just pocket sprung. It will be delivered in a week which we urgently needed.

I know the name of Tim's company and I would have been happy to buy from him if I had been able to try out the mattressess. But he is so far away.
We bought a John Lewis own make, pocket sprung and it is turnable. We gave it a good testing out in the shop, I hope we will be happy with it. It won't get used very often. It cost £295. It is called JL Natural Pocket 1 Mattress 135.
Any comments from Tim would be most welcome.
