    Hi.

They are a good make, but as for your model I don't have a clue because you haven't told me anything about the model or how much you paid for it?
  • Today I buy a bed I said. Today I twist myself in more circles more like:o

For those of you with a nervous disposition, look away now:

Against Tim's advice I went to Dreams. I told husband beforehand that he must ensure I bought NOTHING, regardless of what I say. Well, I didn't need to worry because I didn't like the store at all. I told the salesman what I'd heard about Silent Night and he absolutely agreed. Said he spends all his time trying to reroute customers away from them.

I saw only one bed I liked there and it was Staples Edinburgh BUT it had a sprung base (which I've discovered I absolutely do not like) and he offered to give me a basic Dreams base with Staples Edinburgh kingsize for £1,080. In fact, most of the bases in Dreams were sprung bases. Odd!

Next saw a fleeting journey to Archers bed centre and it was wall to wall Sealy and Silent Night. I sat on a Millbrook something or other there and liked it.

Finally I went to a shop called, can't remember now but it shares space with Land of Leather and the guy said the main store is an online store but it was here I was able to sit on a Kozeesleep for the first time and a very nice Relyon something (with the word silk on it). Very nice! But, am now so used to sitting on latex, memoryfoam, hand tufted, gently teased, wool and silk that I find Kozeesleep too normal

The brass tacks of this one is I can get a Kozeesleep mattress with generic 2 drawer base for £450 delivered on Tuesday and a double Kozeesleep for £300, again with generic base.

So, what now eh? Husband still wants to get the Bensons bed one (minus the pillow - thanks Tim) on 2 years credit. It's lush in comparison to the Kozeesleep but twice the price.

Don't buy the bed today. Make a shortlist then PM me.

Went back to view my Bensons links and saw this, sorry Tim

Is it bad of me to love the opulence of this bed against the mismatched bases? I keep thinking a grand on a bed is life changing surely and what if I hate it? If I spend £400 and hate it I put up with it for a year or so and move on:o

sorry, it's a john lewis one, made for them and is apparently the same as a herald. I paid 1295.00 (eek!)
  • i guess I liked the reduced price aspect, and also it's because the ex disply one had a firm side for fat OH and a medium spring side for thinner me. also they have guaranteed to get it up into the bedroom (on the third floor and they haven't seen my stairs!!!)

    Taken on board, many thanks.

Now, I've not gone back yet but I found one without the pillow top. Guy at store will probably offer this on interest free too, well it IS £100 dearer!!

Besides anything Relyon is a good make isn't it? I know I'll probably be paying over the odds but I have to put a price on the interest free option, the fact I can get it in a week and the fact that the make is good

    hiya
we looked at this bed today and was going to buy it so wondered what you decided, did you find a better deal elsewhere as i'm not too bothered about the interest free part as get 5% cashback on my credit card! thanks for any advice - maybe tim could advise too???!!!

does anyone know what is the best out of talalay latex and visco elastic?

The spring count is far too high. The springs have to be so small to fit so many in the mattress that they get damaged easily. The price is also very high for an own brand bed.

AS for the different foams, I prefer visco elastic, but that's just mey personal choice.
  • I've read so much on this thread, and I'm cabbaged.

I think I've got my choice right...2.5 inch memory foam, with about 1000 pocket springs. So far so good I think, although it's taken over a fortnight just to get to this stage lol.

Turnable or not? Some adverts say that the selected mattress is not turnable, but I can't help feeling it's good to turn a mattress once in a while. So not sure what to do about that.

Lastly, where from. I have decided from reading this thread, that the high street is out, and the internet is the way to go, but it just feels wrong not to at least lie on one before you buy it.

I'm not looking for problems, but I've gone from thinking it'll be a nice job buying a new mattress, to being absolutely petrified to make a decision. I guess it may come down to crossing my fingers, because when I start looking seriously for one, they all look alike, sound alike, but the cost varies a lot.

Still, can't put up with the old one any longer, so I'll just have to get brave and take the plunge.
