How do I know if it's well made ? Thanks

That's the problem..........it's difficult to tell if you don't know much about mattresses.

Can anyone (Tim!) help and advise me. My matreess/bed search continues and i've seen the following bed in my local independent shop:

Relyon Marlowe King Size Matress and sprung divan set £1395 reduced to £665 (1400 pocket sprung mattress with padded topper)

What do you think, the guy in the shop said it was the bargain of the century! It did seem good value in comparison to the others on offer, he said it was an end of line thing, hence the reduction to clear. Thanks for your help...

I can only find a Dreamworks Marlow, not one made by Relyon. Do you have a link?
  • Opinions on this bed please? I'm only interested in one so dear because the guy's offering me 2 years interest free and he can deliver this coming week. It certainly allows me to look a bit dearer because my budget won't stretch so far with cash only.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but I have allways advised to avoid pillow top mattresses for two reasons:
    1. The pillow top fillings tend to move about eventually creating hollows where you sleep.
    2. The pillow top makes it a non turn mattress which won't last as long (especially with quite a high spring count).

Has anyone had dealings with this company? Just wondered whether the price of this mattress is too good to be true. The memory foam mattress firm:
.Luxury silver 6-inch (15cm) Memory foam Mattress (3 inches of memory foam)

No I don't have a link. The mattress is in a local independent bed shop, and it is definetly Relyon and the sign called it the Marlowe although I don't remember seeing that on the mattress itself.

In general would you recommend Relyon. The guy in the shop said they're hand made and considered to be one of the best.

    I appreciate your help.

They don't really give much information. It says 3" or memory foam which is too deep and could make you too hot as you sink into it. They just say high density, but don't give the density. The reflex foam under the memory foam is only 3" which is very thin and could mean that you feel the hard surface under it.

You can actually get an open coil sprung/memory foam mattress for less.

Relyon are quite a good make. They are hand made, but then so are most mattresses. However as I'm having trouble finding it listed anywhere it's difficult to comment on it.
  • If money were no object what would be the best bed?

I've tons of bits of paper with names like Restus, La Romantica, Kozeesleep, Hypnos, Myers, Staples. I've canvassed opinion from my nearest and dearest (most of whom don't even know what mattress they rest on). I've tons of Silent Nights, one Restus, and few I can't remember.

Thanks Tim. All I know is it is 1400 pocket sprung with latex, polyester stuffed pillow top and non turnable.
