Bed is quite new, however, I find it is a little high and would like a lower base.
Yes you can.
Most small manufacturers will be happy to make a base only to a special height.0 -
For what it's worth...
HWTHMBO & I went to John Lewis and bought a Natural Pocket mattress (Which? Best Buy, get magazine at work, woo yay!) - Double £350.00 incl delivery.
It's got wool and cotton topping and IT IS SOOOO WARM i don't think I'll need to put the cellular blanket on the mattress this winter or the electric blanket on the top!just in case you need to know:

At last an honest opinon! :T :T :T :T :T
It makes a refreshing change from Tim Deegan, backed up by TimtheRev and various new users who just happened to come across this thread  promoting the mattresses he sells and slagging off all other brands.
I'd be a bit careful with your comment there as you are implying that all previous opinions on this thread are not honest. Whatever advice has been given on here, at the very least gives food for thought.... and I have no evidence to prove it is dishonest.
It may be worth giving the top 4 Pocket Sprung mattresses from the Which test which tested amongst other things the durability and support of the mattress.
John Lewis JL Pocket Comfort 1 (£295) very soft
John Lewis JL Natural Pocket 2 (£350) medium
Hush Options Pocket Mattress (£300) firm
Magnificent 7 Pocket (£249) soft
The results after this were pretty close including Windsor Bed Company, Ikea and Airsprung. Of course they advise you to try before you buy. They did not test pocket sprung and foam in the recent review but did a couple of years ago when Healthbeds Memory Med 1400 won.
However, the range of beds tested was very limited when you consider the vast array of mattresses available.0 -
Im guessing John Lewis dont make their own mattresses, any idea who makes them for them?:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. No - but I would like to find out where they make their goose feather and down duvets. Their website says they are made in their own factory in Lancashire. Maybe they make their own beds too?0 -

Maybe we should start a new thread with opinion/experience of those who have, fairly recently, bought a new mattress.0 -

Just try out the mattresses in JL & ask who makes whichever you like. Sales staff are frank & knowledgeable about the products they sell & never pushy.
Personally I would now never buy a mattress without trying several first. JL has a good range, including memory foam/pocket sprung, which they say some customers seem to find too warm - especially in summer.
After trying many mattresses I changed my mind completely about what I previously thought I would like. I have ordered from JL and, although I don't anticipate any problem with the mattress, I am confident that JL would resolve it without hassle.
I have no connection with JL and am not, (as suggested by the dogmatic Mr Deegan), a journalist.0 -
My question was merely intreague, I have a wonderful mattress
was just interested to know who made them so as to be able to comment more on quality and be able to recommend accordingly.
You are right though, definately best to try before you buy.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things.
