That memory plus is non-turn btw, not ideal, did you know? Maybe you can get a turnable alternative, and with it being zip and link, much easier to turn half a mattress at a go ;)

    Oh bloody hell :(

Do they do turnable i.e. memory foam on both sides? If so what sort of price bracket are we talking? I thought The Shakespeare was pretty expensive at around £950, its a damn shame you guys can't even hint at what you think is a good quality mattress do you post on any other forums? I find you information useful but I'm starting to drown in data :D part of me thinks its only a bloody mattress and the other half wants the best in the price range :/

Much as i'd love to help, it's against forum rules to promote a certain product for personal gain, and although it's not personal gain, the anti-Tim police would swoop as soon as his link was posted.

For £950 you should be able to get something to more than meet your criteria. I will see what I can find...

Super-King, pocket sprung, memory foam, turnable, 1000+ springs, divan too or only mattress?

All I can say is that you can get them for less than £950
  • Yes I'm beinging to get the impression that we've commited to quite a lot of money although I am/ was willing to pay it because the bed we tried was comfortable, I suppose we are paying a premium because we were able to try the bed first and despite it being highly recomended that you try before you buy with a mattress you can't really do it easily with online retailers. Presumably online sellers are starting to take a lot of business from stores and the price at stores with a phyiscal presence starts to increase. anyway enough of my amateur economics :D

I've found the Hypnos Platinum online which seems to be turnable and have pockets and foam, any comment? I know the brand so presumably we'd be able to try one somewhere.

We just need a mattress, no divan and we both liked the pocket and foam combination, it needs to be Zip n Link really (I'll redo the measurements tonight to check but the corridor is thin and the stairs are narrow and the last mattress we got the (a cage sprung) the delivery guys refused to take it up because they said thay would have to bend it a bit and they didn't want to be responsible)

This site shows a SKS 1000 spring pocket mattress with memory foam and divan set, turnable, zip and link etc for £595, or mattress only for £475. It doesnt mention the brand but the stats look good, so may be worth making an enquiry?

  • That looks like the right kind of thing, shame they don't deliver to my area (Kent) :D

Thanks for all the advice and if anyone else has any ideas I'm really happy to hear them :)

They do delivery outside of the lilac area, lol, but it needs pre-arranging and probably costs more.

Does show that there's some out there though. Now you know that's the sort of mattress you want you may be able to buy online with greater confidence, knowing that it's what you want and can get a better deal that way?

Now all I'll need to do is get the wife to do the mean stuff and tell the store that as they can't provide what we want then we're cancelling the order and the finance

Thanks for that, I'll do the measuring tonight and make sure we can't get a superking in without bending it, if we can then that'll make life a lot easier :)

    Thanks again

Maybe do some research on the mattress company used by that website, it doesnt mention the brand anywhere that I can see. I'd hate for it to be s Silentnight or something  :rotfl:

His mobile number is plastered all over the site, so i'd suggest a call. He seems honest and open, and is one of your 'local independants' with his reputation at stake as we like to promote ;)
