Sounds like you're doing well already Ziggy!! Could you sell bits on ebay and send that straight to your savings account? Every little helps! :) Good luck with getting to £500!

Just booked mine and franks holiday :D must remember to take towels and LOTS of blankets because as far as I remember caravans are cooold. Don't know if it's class as a spend or not? Paid with my mums CC and I'm giving my mum the money on friday?
  • Hi Cinny

It's funny you should say that, great minds...!

I've spent about 4 hours today listing loads of books on Amazon/Play.com. Have about 90ish items on Amazon now and 50 on Play. Was going to carry on and list some things on Ebay too, but they can wait until next week now. I've scanned everything ready for Ebay listings so the pics are ready to go, I've just had enough of listing for today now so am off for a nice relaxing bath soon. Quite proud of my efforts though, hope it pays off :D .

I have just joined in with a challenge to try and cut my electricity bill down by half too. Even if I don't reach target with that (my teenage son is a nightmare for leaving stuff on all the while!) even a small reduction would be great and any money saved will be diverted to savings fund.

Definitely take loooadds of blankets with you. I remember staying in a caravan a few years ago and it was freezing. It could be a very good excuse for you to cuddle up next to Frank and keep warm though!
Cutting my bills down to size and saving money :j
So far I have reduced my outgoings/increased my savings account balance by: £16.80 a month
Lots more bill-slashing in progress :D

Blimey, that's alot of stuff! It took awhile but now Frank seems to be selling bits on play.com quite alot now. Goodluck with amazon (nearly typed hollyoaks then :lipsrseal ) too. I sold afew bits on there but the charges sempt abit over the top!

I've claimed 3 blankets so far for that weekend. Would it be going too far to take sleeping bags? :o It says the caravans have heaters but they never seem to heat the place at all. Taking packs of cards and cluedo incase it rains! My sister says I should be having holidays in Ibiza not in 'oldie caravans' at my age

Frank has just mentioned it's his younger brother and sisters birthday in a week. (they're 13, i think!) having a panic search on amazon for something to get them but not a clue..

Just called the bank and I have over £300. :j
Just doing some mental maths, I need to take out £20 board for mum. I also owe her £10 but she's told me to get baking bits with that. So I'll have £278 for the week, giving Frank £10 petrol and I'm going clothes shopping tomorrow which will soak up most of my £30 budget for the week. Fingers crossed I can do another NSW, working 2 full days next week so I'll have a nice looking pay packet in a fortnight!

Budget has gone to pot this week  no surprise there really.
Went to matalan on saturday, needed afew cheap tops and they have some quite nice cut ones for £3. Ended up getting a dressing gown (nice and fluffy, will be great for the caravan) and some shirts for Frank. So £30 spent there. Also bought me and frank pizza and waffles for dinner yesterday along with todays lunch at asda early yesterday morning. Woke up this morning getting ready for work and found my lovely heels chewed by Trevor :( They cost £40 on sale so I doubt I'll be able to find them that cheap again. Looks like it's off to amazon for some slash price irregular choice shoes. Abit of a !!!!!! but I do need smart shoes for work so I guess it's worth it. I'll just try and find some that can double up as my winter boots.

*edit* Just got a phone call from mum, planned to go out friday after work to get some new shoes, she says she'll pay because trevor is her dog but I'll buy dinner so i don't feel too guilty :)

been a NS monday so far but my sister is alittle bit upset with her boyfriend ATM so I might nip and get her some chocolate after work.
  • Sounds like you're doing really well Cinny, shame about the shoes though. I didn't realise Matalan clothes were so reasonably priced - my sister works for Matalan so gets a staff discount, I think it's time I went to see my little sis at work ;-). Need some smart warm clothes as I start my CAB training soon and it'll mean lots of travelling on cold winter mornings.

It's a weird week money-wise for me, as I have sold lots of stuff on Amazon, Ebay and Play (still have loads listed). Obviously I have had to pay out postage costs, and I have withdrawn the money from Amazon and Play but it's yet to hit my account so am really poor until it does. It'll be worth it though in the end.

Did you buy your sister some chocolate in the end? I'm sure it doesn't count against your 100 day no chocolate challenge as long as you're buying it for someone else ;-)

When I got home they'd sorted it out so my money was safe : ) I knew full well if I got her chocolate I'd get myself some too, and my parents. then my brother so it would of cost me a fair bit! :o got some brownies a-cooking in the oven so they should fix my need for chocolate.

Well done on selling some of you bits! Hopefully the money should be in your bank account soon, although I'm waiting on just over £50 from amazon and it keeps on cancelling the transfer  just hoping i can get it before me and frank go away for petrol money.

Matalans clothes are getting much better! It's gone from rails of one top in 20 different colours to having some really nice things! It's like primark only the clothes are still together after going through the wash, and their stock stays the same for longer than 2 days. I have a couple £5 off when you spend £30 vouchers, but I left them at home because I only thought I'd be spending £10

Awesome :) you guys sound like you're doing really well! Got £100 through from the co-op current account plus account today! (so excited!) but I'm hoping th boy has too as that is a biiig chunk off his birthday/anniversary/xmas present! [I helped him open the account and lent him the money so he said I can sort of have the £100 he should get - if I spend it on him lol!) he just needs to get this booked really and if he doesn't do it its all his fault, especially as the money is there now almost (think we're about £150 short - he'sputting money in but he keeps buying games!!!)
deffo need to start makin myself a budget though, ive been spending money like its going out of fashion and with the interest rate cuts all my few savings are going to take a dive this month interest wise... ho hum. Yeah also I spent all the money I got out to pay bills with! (doh!!) so need to get back on track asap!!
On a plus side, cinny - dunno if you ever signed up with globaltestmarket - but if you did don't forget, you rack up points in dollars (1000 points = $50) and $50 has just gone up in price loooads! I'm getting near the payout threshold so this is a wicked thing! Everyone seems to have slowed down on the surveys though... there's not even anything on onepoll for me!! Grrrr!
Ah well! I just feel crap cos im really slacking on the nsd challenge and the make £5 a day challenge. Are you doing either of those this month?
PLUS.. I havent bought any christmas presents yet :(

Nah, not doing any this month. I was rubbish on the £5 a day thing :) I'm just too lazy. I'm not doing the NSDs either, I try and challenge myself by spending nothing monday - thursday. Which I've done for 3 weeks in a row now. but i'm breaking it this week by getting me and frank our lunch for tomorrow tonight. He's working in harworths ladbrokes tomorrow which is close to our office's so i'll be stealing him at dinner time. I am working full day tomorrow and friday so I'll be trying to not spend any money then instead :D fingers crossed!

Well done on getting close to the 1000! I think I have 75 points on that :rotfl: i should get working on it, need to get back on STP too :/

got up at 7 this morning and made another tea loaf, homemade hobnobs and some buns (all before 9, quite chuffed!) so that will keep me away from buying snack food for awhile. Got a horrible cold coming on so i need comfort food.
