Got abit of a dodgy stomach today, but I had chocolate for breakfast so it's my own fault.

Got over 10,000 points on dooyoo now, so i'll be able to redeem them for a voucher soon. Got about half of them pending though.

waiting for todays work load to be plonked on my desk... waiting and waiting.
  • Hi Cinny and Tinkerbell :hello:

Good to see you're both doing so well. I really like the idea of a spending diary, can't wait to see how you both get on with that.

I've been working on our food budget this week. At the moment I am spending £35 a week to feed 3 people and a cat! There's far too much junk food in there though and I don't want to shop daily any more as it's getting so cold. (Note: the cat doesn't get junk food, she will only eat the premium stuff and is totally spoilt!). Anyway my aim is to keep the food budget the same but buy healthier food and get it delivered once a month into the bargain! Working on a new and improved weekly menu right now before doing a search for some Tesco or Asda money-off online shopping codes ;)

It's Christmas shopping day for me tomorrow too. I plan to go out with £20 and return with 2 expensive-looking Christmas presents AND change :rotfl: . Wish me luck for that one, as I will certainly need it!

So far I have reduced my outgoings/increased my savings account balance by: £16.80 a month
Lots more bill-slashing in progress :D
  • Hey just discovered and read through this thread. it was great, every 1 seems to be very disiplined. can i join please?

im 28, work part time in the Big A. Live with my boyf (f/t bus driver)and our 5 year old. I do a detailed budget every 4 weeks for bills/presents/repairs etc and allow us £50 per week to live on, (£50 starts on a Thursday, which i lift out the bank) thats - £10 petrol and £40 for messages/toilettries etc and would really like to get a grip on how i spend it, as i often dip into the following weeks budget:mad: and thinking tha thaving a diary/confessional might keep a curb on my spending

ive got £5.45 in my purse at the moment, to last until Thursday but thats not as bad as it sounds as i have already bought most of the messages in for dinner/school lunches etc. Also made a big pot of homemade soup today which should last us through till Thursday

chat to you all soon - i hope;)

Ziggy - I'm sure you wont have any problems getting two great looking presents on the cheap atm. The only problem is not getting stuff for yourself! Well done with your shopping budget, I think that's pretty good going! My mum spends £50 on five of us for a week. Could get cut down if I baked more to cut down on junk food.

Nich - Of course you can join in, pull up a seat! If you start a spending diary and put eeeeverything down (I pain stakingly went through all my receipts and wrote down every little thing) I know it sounds silly, but would it be possible to increase your weekly budget alittle? If you can budget easily into £55 - 60 then you can challenge yourself afew weeks and slowly bring it back down to £50 again.

Sat down tonight with my little spending diary and wrote '24th November. Total spend - £0' felt pretty darn nice putting that down!
  • thanks Cinny, will keep u posted with my daily spends

Didn't spend anything yesterday either :D

You can't really help buying petrol and food, and a girl needs moisturiser or when we turn 50 we'll look like leather bags. I had a couple weeks when my budget went to pot, you'll sort it out soon.

On the bad side, one of my cats has gone missing, haven't seen him for about a week but my mum is certain she saw him yesterday  Going on a search for him this afternoon.

He has done! I shouldn't get too attached as he is a stray tom cat. But he turned up yesterday afternoon looking like he'd been in a fight so I gave him some food to distract him while I checked him for fleas  thankfully he got the all clear!!
