Started life in Gedling, bought my first house in Mapperley, now live in Woodthorpe. I wouldn't think of moving the other side of Nottingham due traffic problems comming over the 3 bridges. Many people who live that side say there isn't a problem, but journey times are much longer than from this side.
Woodthorpe is a lovely area within 4 miles of the city centre and a short walk to Arnold centre, other than moving further out into the villages with lack of public transport, it's one of the nicest areas of nottingham imho.

    Exclamation indeed

When I was a kid, in the days before kirsty and phil, back when the term property !!!!!! would have meant something entirely different, I remember my Dad taking me and my family round a sprawling delapidated cottage in Bradmore on a massive plot on the market for a hundred pounds or something equally rediculous (yes that a massive exaggeration, but you get my point) and trying to convince my Mum with a bit of elbow grease it could be a great place to bring up 3 kids. Suffice to say that particular pipe dream remained just that. Pah how gutted am I - I'd be on course for my share of the best part of godknows how much now!!! ;)

I've seen a lovely place in Cotgrave, looks ideal for what we need. Not too many schools in the immediate area though but certainly looks very nice.

I don't think Cotgrave is all that nice TBH. Bingham is good though. There is a great school in East Bridgford (primary, with links to a good secondary school) and there is a five bed repossession there on for £225K, originally on at £250K!

My initital reaction was 'oh yes Nuthall's nice' but on second thoughts I've never actually been there! You know how you get a perception of local places as nice or not through hearsay and word of mouth. I deduce that my perception of Nuthall as nice is actually based on the fact that the girls on my art foundation course who came from there were very well to do :)

You'd be a stones throw from Ikea too - dunno if thats a positive or negative tho!

A positive - definitely - have you ever tried getting a man to take you to Ikea? :rotfl:

I'm from Notts and if you have money then nowhere beats The Park...it's lush.

    West Bridgford is nice also.

diaagree with HAPPY FRANK. re west bridgford anyway- lived there 2.5 yrs and whilst the car commute is awful the buses are very frequent and have dedicated bus lanes thus whizzing past the gridlock= £2.50 all day travel inc' tram. wb to city =c6 mins ?
