No probs - I think Bilsthorpe has been due a regeneration for far too long! Unfortunately I can't see it happening for a long time, as least while the old miners are still around, they're happy with it as it is!
Would agree with Ravenshead also, good primary schools.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Catchment for Ruddington is Rushcliffe School, it changed in 1990 (the year before I went to Rushcliffe.)joeblack066 wrote:West Bridgford School had the highest A level results in the whole of the Notts Derbys Leics area a coupla years ago when I was looking for DS. As en ex West Bridgfordian I was well chuffed! Ruddington Village very nice, catchment for West Bridgford School, easy drive to Park and Glide Trams or direct into the city. Best Buddy still lives in Arnold, really nice residential area, agree bout Arnold Hill being a good school too! Hope this helps!0

I disagree although Silverdale isn't terrible, but there are better areas. Silverdale is right next to Clifton (at one point the largest Council Estate in Europe), and there are better schools.robwend wrote:silverdale silverdale silverdale....you hear me lol. the best area and schools0

I have a friend that lives very close to Berrry hill, on Abbeydale Drive. Really lovely area and schools are good too. Not far from motorway and easy to get to Nottingham0

I must admit Berry Hill did seem very nice. Everyone we spoke to gave praise and recommended the same school - Oakham.0

Don't know about Mansfield schools, but there is a school bus to the High Schools (independent) from Berry Hill and Ravenshead.Gone ... or have I?0

woah easy tiger . Berry hill ? you have looked around it right ?! start at £300 k surely, well i'm thinking of the 'proper' berry hill with the big old houses=ex land owners etc.maybe new estate there i guess. mans' woodhouse? lived there for c 1.5 years-DONT repeat my mistake.whoever has posted about bilsthorpe and then rainworth is bang on the money-you will want to hang yourself fairly quickly. actually tonydee you seem to talk about value etc and less about quality of life. living in a depressed or stuffy area hoping for regeneration and/or property price increases...well north notts is not where you go for culture, entertainment etc-perhaps your not botherd? i.ve lived in north and city sides-never north again despite some of most underrated scenery in uk. NB- A60 commute into nottm is a life shortener: and i don't mean for travelling time ! done that plenty, even now = pantsremember always -'' life shrinks or expands in proportion to ones courage''0

can't beat the villages in east notts:
radcliffe-on-trent
bingham
east bridgford
gunthorpe
lowdham
southwell
etc...
you are far enough away to be rural, but still close enough drive to the city centre. If you need to be closer to the city, West Bridgford is excellent for travel time and range of housing and low crime. There is a bit of snobbiness, but it is a great area.0 -
This is all very helpful stuff and I really do appreciate it. I definatly need to look at a few more areas, Woodthorpe, West Brigford, Mapperley, Ruddington, Radcliffe etc etc. This could take a while.0

There are some great villages south of the city such as Bradmore, bunny wymeswold etc... Bradmore is only 10 - 15 mins from the centre of town if you go down the a52! It is also close to the m1....great place to live. You feel as though you are living in the countryside but have the benefits of living close to town.0
