Hi, I live in close proximity to notts so hopefuly can help you out.
Woodthorpe has a good reputation, as does mapperley, east/west bridgford, and surrounding areas.
However, there are areas which are about 30 mins out of town which in my opinion are nicer, let me know if you are interested. The above are all 15mins out of town.0 -
Many thanks for your reply. Ive seen a house in Woodthorpe which interested me. However I was concerned about the area. Arnold town didnt look attractive. Would you consider Woodthorpe as a safe area to live. The house is quite expensive. So it is a big commitment. I quite liked Westbridgford. But I was told commuting into city centre during peak times can be difficult due to traffic.0

Don't bother with St. Ann's, it is rough as .... and it came near the top of the worst places in to live on that Kirsty & Phil tv programme0

I live in nottingham and so have a good idea about some areas, but not all as with all citys it's a big place.
Unfortunately don't know alot about the woodthorpe area, and in response to other posts there are 2 areas of mapperly which are mapperly top and mapperly plains, and again i'm not from that area but fromwhat I have seen driving through, the neighbourhood does vary, so you have to be careful about whereabouts it is in an area.
West bridgeford is nice, and I do know this area well, and although the name would suggest they are next to each other, east bridgeford is a long way from nottingham city center.0 -
Thanks to Iomexico and eightpints for their advise.
Is there anyone out there who live in woodthorpe/mapperley area.....0 -
I actually live in Mapperley! Woodthorpe is a nice "Professional Area" as is most of Mapperley, the area is the 3rd most expensive in Nottingham, after Wollaton and the Park - All nice areas. West Bridgeford is IMHO getting overpriced and above itself, it is a nightmare to get into town from WB and there are 2 football grounds and the cricket in the area. Consider Silverdale, Arnold, some parts of Carlton, Redhill, Woodborough Village - It really depends on how near you want to be to town?
Post more questions if you want - BTW My place is on the market!!!! LOLThe quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0 -
Thank you so much Mr Proctalgia.
I am trying to get all the advice I can get before I proceed with the purchase0 -
Bumping this thread instead of starting my own. Over to you guys.0

Tonydee - I live in Sherwood in Nottingham - can you be a bit more specific about where you are thinking of moving to or your budget/requirements? We are actually selling (or trying to!) so I've got a pretty good feel for what's around!0
