Thanks for the info Michael. We haven't bougth anywhere as of yet, if things go to plan then by September this year.
Searching the areas you mention as I type.
Thanks again0 -
I would avoid St Anns, Sneinton, Radford, Hyson Green, Lenton, Clifton, Forest Fields.
Areas that I would personally live in are Colwick, Ruddington, possibly Carlton, Gedling & Arnold but they are quite hilly, Burton Joyce is lovely. If you're looking for good schools then West Bridgford or Bingham and the surrounding villages are good places to go for.0 -
We visited a few areas and houses this weekend and of course the wife has inevitably fallen in love with one.
My question is and it does involve some forward expectation is:
The areas we have been looking in have fallen in price the last couple of months, only slightly but they have fallen.
The area I live in is consistently matching the national average or indeed out performing the national average.
With more interest rates expected would I be a fool not to hang on a while with the view of achieving a cheaper buy whilst sustaining a decent sale price?0 -
Nottingham has only two areas to live in!
Either your North of the river or south of the river!!
But seriously if you live south of the river, which is a nice place apart from clifton, then there are only 3 bridges that cross the Trent. This is were congestion may build up.
Living south of the river I like West Bridgford, it has a nice town centre with shops, pubs and restaurants. Also roads like the A1, M1, A52 and A46 are all within easy reach.
I was shocked to see on a local news channel house prices in Nottingham had only gone up by 0.4% last year compared to Derby and Leicester which have achieved around 7%.0 -
West Bridgford School had the highest A level results in the whole of the Notts Derbys Leics area a coupla years ago when I was looking for DS. As en ex West Bridgfordian I was well chuffed! Ruddington Village very nice, catchment for West Bridgford School, easy drive to Park and Glide Trams or direct into the city. Best Buddy still lives in Arnold, really nice residential area, agree bout Arnold Hill being a good school too! Hope this helps!0

Here on the IOW we still don't have enough houses so can you see my prediciment? If interest rates continue the trend and move up bit by bit then potentially the market will slow down a little in Nottingham.
Here on the IOW however we continue to match or out-perform the national average IOW news0 -
Can anybody offer advice on areas such as Bilsthorpe, Ollerton etc ?0
-
Not really that familiar with bilsthorpe and ollerton but aren`t they old mining areas. I have bought a house in an area where the prices are falling..ie mine was bought oct 2005 for 185,000 and I have bought it for £145,000 Dec 2006There are quite a few properties up for sale and there seems to be a fair share of reposession notices too.0
