Yes it does. Basically the package would normally be about £25pm ( for evening & weekend but I managed to squeeze in anytime) but an £11pm discount is being applied and £1 paper-free billing.

But then again we get into this issue of the definition of unlimited. And despite what Virgin say the top tier is the only package to which the term unlimited could be remotely applied in the the true sense of the word.

You can get 10Mb with Virgin for £17pm or £7.50 with O2/Be if you are in an unbundled area.

It was really a rhetorical question designed to make you think.

On 10Mb connection you have a 1000MB download limit before throttling kicks in so you may never be throttled. With a 2Mb connection you have a 200Mb limit so may well be throttled.

Difference is £2pm - not a great deal by may be depending on your circumstances. However you said you accepted a 10Mb package at a much greater cost.

Fair enough but 2mb was a broadband package only....no phone line! I sussed out long ago that a braodband connection means you can use a VOIP Siemens gigaset cordless phone and save lots on landline rentals...but sush dont say anything.

I was contracted into the 2mb service before throtling came in and it was only after the contractual period that they started noticeably throtttling me.

PS... dont ask me to explain Virgins pricing structure but the cuurent standard price of 2mb is £18/month which is haggled down to £15 but previously haggled down to £9 a month in 12month contract....but now expired.

If you are an expert haggler you may get a 2mb contract for £9/month for 12months...no phone line required

You can any of their BB packages on BB only, albeit dearer. However I sussed out years ago that if I kept the phone ( even though I never used it) the price, including phone, was never more than £1 extra pm. It also gave me supposedly better bargaining power as I had more than one service.

Current standard pricing for 10Mb is £20pm which can be haggled down to £18pm as that's the deal for new customers. However as you'll see from the deal I have just accepted I have it for £11.45pm including an XL phone.

If you are an expert haggler you may get a 2mb contract for £9/month for 12months...no phone line required

Or someone who was prepared to cancel and go elsewhere as I was.

how did u get that brilliant deal.. im paying 20.00 for what ur paying 13.00 but then my other numbers such as 0845 comes to like much more..

when i called before they tried to flog me off saying 0845 numbers are going soon and blah blah..

I have a mobile with loads of minutes so I dont need a landline whatsover.

I have a broadband VOIP cordless phone with a normal geographical 01xxxx landline number to satisfy people with landline who wish to contact me on a "landline".....otherwise I dont use it I us my mobile.

Therfore broadband deals which do not require conventional landlines are particularly attractive to me.

Jem16........£11.45pm including an XL phone.....seems good to me, surely this is not achievable for most customers, you have to have a substantial leverage to get that!!!!

Virgin's phone prices for 0845/0870 numbers are the dearest about. I use my BT phone line for those or indeed the website saynoto0870 and avoid them as much as possible.
