    Just called up Virgin.

Large BB only (10mg) currently paying £16 a month

    contract ends tomorrow

Told them I was thinking of moving to O2

They offered a new 12 month contract - same BB at £13 for six months and then £17 for six months after that

works out at a saving of a quid a month

    not great

any thoughts on my next step

happy with the speed just not the price

Current deal ends in 32 days..

    We are on..

XL Tv Package (i upgraded for the setanta football)
    2MB Broadband
    Phone line
    Free V+ box
Free installation, free hdmi cable etc

Paying £34 a month, was £30 but they increased it.

Then we went with the old V box upstairs, so that was an extra £5 a month.

Looking for a new deal within 30 days, not really interested in any faster BB as dont download anything.

Would like to keep the XL Tv as were use to the music & on demand stuff now. Phone line not essential, so normal package on that too. Upstairs box is not that important, as other 'boxes' are available.

They may drop it to £14/month for 12 months if you push them, but I don't think they will go lower than that.

I phoned up today as I'm just outside my 12 months contract. I'm currently on just the 10 meg broadband.

I asked to cancel and she was literally putting the cancellation through (I would have gone through with it) and then offered me £14.95 for both 10mb and a phone line (free weekend calls) with free installation of the phone. She said it was a lifetime offer as well and it would never go up. Obviously I took the deal and am very happy as the broadband is fab. :money:

My contract is up at the end of this month, im current paying around £37 for 10mb bb, tv size L and of course the phone line they push on you..
    Description Date/period Amount
    Telephone Line Rental 17 June - 16 July £11.00
    Phone, TV & BB Bundle Saving 17 June - 16 July £-9.50
    Talk Weekends 17 June - 16 July £0.00
    TV Size: L 17 June - 16 July £11.50
    Broadband Size: L 17 June - 16 July £25.00

Basically i dont want the tv or phone, and from what ive read, i should be able to negotiate the BB down to around 16-17 pounds, is that right?

Not from my experience. £9 a month for 10meg with no haggling required (deal organised mid June). BB via cable.

Are you taking any other packages with Virginmedia? It's just that I settled eventually for £10 for 6 months then £14 for the last 6 on the standalone BB size Small. They would not budge.
