  • I rang up quite late tonight to see what deals they could give me as my contract runs out this month and I got stone walled the whole way.

I said that new customers are being offered £45 for all 3 XL packages and I pay £55, so I said instead of loosing me could I please be given this deal.I was told it was for new customers only. To get the deal I would need to give 30 days notice of cancellation, engineers come to my house to remove everything, then 30 days later again ring up and ask for the deal and have engineers come again to fit everything!

I then said as my gran lives with me we can get a very cheap sky+ box and would be interested in getting something similar with them. I was told £99, no deals can be done.

I then said, but as ive been with you for 5 years, you would want me as a customer. Or loose my custom for a month so i can then reapply, or basically making me go to sky.

It was a really confusing phone call...

maki43 it all depends on who you speak to at Virgin,And one thing you have to do is make them believe your actually going to leave,Always ask to be put through to retentions there the only ones that can actually give you a deal.
Mine went up last month from £29 a month to £41 they wouldn't budge this time but i did get a v+ box for £30 fitted.(why they need to fit them is beyond me a child could do it) The deal i'm on is
    10mb bb
    xl tv
    xl phone free calls 24/7
    caller id
For just over £41 a month
was £29 for the last 18 month.
I think now they have the sky channels back they don't think they need to give good deals out.

Depends who you talk to and if you talk to the regular customer services or select the option to cancel and then tell them you are forced to cancel, but would have rather stayed etc etc.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

    virgin + box starter package

they offered me this for £31.50 pm
instalation is £49 for the virgin + box
they say the starter TV package they no longer advertise but is similar to the L tv package

is this a good deal do you think

    thanks in advance
  • I rang up virgin and the lady said that I was on the best deal as I was paying £ 32 pounds a month for M broadband M tv phone line with free evening calls...her supervisor came on said the same thing ... I then went on this site and rang back only 5 minutes later and got through to Edinburgh I told the girl my friend had got a loyaly bonus and he was paying only 21.50 a month and I wanted them to match it ...they did and she gave me 15 pound cash back as she couldnt get me the international call deal ....
  • hi...currently with Virgin and have been paying £10/month for 2mb BB service. This was special offer for 12 months, so for the last few months I have been paying the normal price of £17/month.

I called to cancel to see if I could get a better deal, and the best they offered was £17/month for their 10mb BB service. Obviously that is better than my current deal but am I right to think I could get an even cheaper deal (say £10/month)? I don't want a phone line from them since I have a BT line which I need in order to use Sky talk unlimited (£5/month for free 24/7 national calls and free international calls to USA etc). Unless I can use sky talk unlimited (http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/skyproducts/skytalk/pricesandoptions/unlimited) on a virgin media line - is that possible?

    thanks for your help!

Just two weeks I rang them and said my current deal of £11 was ending and mentioned that they said ring back in 5 months to get the deal again. No arguments he just put me in a £10 per month deal for another 6 months. I just wonder if it's because they are stopping the 2MB for new customers. Make sure you are ringing cancelations. I would try again it seems to depend on who you speak to sometimes. £17 for 10MB is not particularly great.
    Good Luck.

Hey thanks for the reply. I have called them a few times since and each agent offered the same deal: £14/month for 2MB and £17/month for 10MB, both 12 month contracts. It seems like it is a standard offer and they couldn't do any better.

Apparently since 01/02/09 they no longer offer the 6 month deals that you received. So if i called a few weeks ago I could have got your same offer....but I was too late. However when you come to upgrade they will apparently only offer you the 12 month deals that I was given. Oh well. at least you make a saving for the next 6 months!

    Cheers

If they try tying me into any of that rubbish then they'll lose me as a customer....

2meg for £10 a month is as much as i'd be willing to pay.

After an unsuccessful phone call last month and the month before, I've just called VM again to try and negotiate a better deal. The woman was a lot more friendly and appeared to be trying to help, but couldn't do anything for me.

I had prices for phone and broadband from other suppliers at hand, so could negotiate hard, but she said there was nothing she could do. All she could suggest was reducing the packages I'm on, e.g. drop from 20mb to 10mb @ £25. The thing is, I'm getting 20mb for the price of 10mb at the moment anyway! So that saves me nothing and halves my speed.

End result - no deal and I'll be sorting out a new phone line and ISP tomorrow. As soon as that's done, I'll be leaving VM after 10 years custom.

(Currently XLPh, XLBB, LTV with V+ = £51ish)
