  • 30 day notice given to Virgin today.

Was paying £55 a month for

xl TV with Tivo and additional V+ Box
M Phone, free evening/ weekend calls
    60mb BB

Got my bill today and historic loyalty discount has dropped off meaning its gone up to £67 a month and further price increase in feb.

Only offered 63.99 per month if we drop phone line to weekend only calls.

Did I do the right thing?
  • I had the same package as you Ballgirl, expect I had the XL Phone. I was paying £64.99, going up to £71. So yes, IMO you did the right thing. £63.77 isn't much of an offer. I couldn't tell you what they offered me as they never even offered my anything.

I've been looking at Sky for TV and they stack up quite well against Virgin, apart from having to buy the box, but you can get the first box free with the right offer, i've seen 25% off for 12 months and 50% off for 6 months offers.

    Good luck Ballgirl!

Took out a new 60mg bb only contract in November. It worked out at £21.25 after taking into account the sign up offer and £5 a month loyalty discount they slapped on it. This included a super hub 2 free and no installation charge.

Anyway, last week I handed in my notice re the price increase, they called me back in 2 days and I'm now paying £16.67 per month. They offered 6 months at £20 and the final 6 months at £25 (new 12 month contract).....I turned it down.....the guy went away and came back with the same plus a bill credit to cover the first month......I hummed and hawed and said I would go away and think about it.......he then immediately offered 2 months bill credit with the same offer and told me that would be the absolute max they could offer. I was happy to accept and later discovered that they've also given me the £5 a month off for the first three months new contract bonus!

  • paying £28 for m TV & phone and 30mb BB. calling virgin later as moving to plusnet on the £2.50 pm BB plus £14.50 line rental. Hoping Virgin will give me BB for the same amount as dont really want to loeave but sick of paying for TV & phone which they basically force on you which as its NOT needed that i dont use
  • Was paying £71 pm including the recent increase for:
    60Mb BB
    XL TV
    2 x 1TB TiVo
    XL Phone.

    On cancelling I was offered:
    30Mb BB
    XL TV
    2 x 1TB TiVo
    L Phone
    Sky Sports

All for £99 pm! I turned this down and proceeded with cancellation.

I received a call today from a guy from Virgin who said he has the ability to offer better discounts. After a bit of haggling back and forth I now have:
    60Mb BB
    XL TV
    2 x 1TB TiVo
    L Phone
    Sky Sports

For £84.85 pm. I knew what package I wanted and had set my mind at a maximum of £90 pm. The price on the website is £106.34. This is also a 12 month contract not an 18 month contract as per all new customers.

I didn't expect them to ring so soon. I suspect if I had said no I may have received another call offering me further discounts but I didn't want to risk it.

Do others think I've got a good offer or should I have held out for more?

    Cheers

    Good Evening Everyone,
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    My current plan is:
    60MB
    TV M+ ( 100 channels)
    Phone M
    NO FREE NETFLIX

I am currently Virgin customer but I want to leave them.
Therefore they've offered me: 42 pounds per month for 18 months contract(756 pounds - NO free NETFLIX), as I use Netflix every month it will be additional 6 pounds on top.

TOTAL as existing customer paying on time for 4 years now:864 pounds

I was curious what was the price for new customers?
Therefore I've contacted their sales team for a quote.
They gave me for the same plan but with 6 months free Netflix:

30.99 pounds-6 months and 49,95 pounds for the rest 12 months.
    and 6 months FREE NEXFLIX

    60MB
    TV M+ ( 100 channels)
    Phone M
FREE NETFLIX for the first 6 months

    Total (30.99*6)+(49.95*12+6*12)=857.34 pounds

I wander is that how you compare new customers to old customers?

    OLD CUSTOMER: 864 pounds
    NEW CUSTOMER:857.34 pounds

Ridiculous AS it may sound BUT it works out cheaper to be a NEW CUSTOMER for them.

Is someone else here using the same plan and having the same issue?

    Thank you for you help!

I've just been through the annual cancellation round with VMedia

The deals I was offered by the outbound team were as follows:

    Deal A (18 month contract)

    M+ TV
    500GB Tivo
    30MB B/Band
    Talk Weekend and Evening
    Netflix (free for six months)
    £24 credit
    Price : £11.60 for first 6 months / £26.60 for remaining 12 months

    Deal B (18 month contract)

    500GB Tivo
    30MB B/Band
    Talk Unlimited
    Netflix (free for six months)
    £24 credit
    Price : £15 for first 6 months / £30.00 for remaining 12 months

    Deal C (12 month contract)

    Talk Weekend and Evening
    30MB B/Band
    £37 credit on account
    Price : £10.00 per month

The three deals assume that Line Rental Saver is paid upfront.

Make sure you have a "game plan" for your negotiations (i.e. have the deals some of the competition are offering, plus any deals that VMedia are offering to new customers).

The inbound team will test your knowledge to see how serious you are about leaving (i.e. have you done some research). I reckon this may be a factor in how quickly you get a call back (I could be wrong). I always dangle a carrot by hinting that I like the look of the new services their competitors offer (this year I hinted that BT Sport would attract me to transfer to BT B/Band).

When you get a call back, this then opens up other offers that the Retention Team can offer.

    Best of luck.
