If necessary, give 30 days notice - they will likely call you back to make an offer (outbound retentions have better offers than those you can get through by phoning them). If not, phone on day 29 iif you still wisht to stay and cancel your cancellation.

I already have a discount from years ago and this appears to have stopped me getting further reductions so I am toying with the idea of the ultimate threat of leaving BUT I absolutely do not want to actually cancel my Broadband(I am not too fussed with phoneline/tv).
I would feel more confident if there have been people who have asked to terminate their contract but backed out within the 30 days notice period. Of course in terms of administration it should be a piece of p*ss to reverse a cancellation request but I wouldn't want to risk losing my cable broadband.0 -

You shouldn't ever make idle threats - for whatever reason - in life - it's just in-sincere, and cast you as time waster
as for VM - they hear it everyday and prolly wont hesitate to pull the plugWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -

When I was going to leave last year they said that if I changed my mind just to call back before our services were cut off and everything would continue as normal.0 -

Has anyone done this? Do CS tell you that if you want to change your mind you can cancel the 'cancellation request' within the 30 days notice period?

I backed out when the 50% Sky code worked for me last week.
No biggie, you just call them and its reversed within a few minutes0 -

The problem with that is VM have caused this situation, it is entriely of their own making.
If the inbound retentions team had the offers the outbound retentions team had then we wouldn't have to play the game in such a way.
VM do hear it everyday, but they brought it upon themselves0 -
Most people here take multiple services but I only need broadband from them
I currently pay £24.75 for 10 MB broadband only.
Do you think I can get them to knock £10 off and bump me up to 30 MB? What's the best way to go about it?
Thanks0 -
Unlikely.
Phone adds £15 to the cost, but the BB on its own is £10 more expensive than taking the phone.
You may get a few quid off your list price, 60mb is £27.50 a month.
30mb is £22.50 a month, so you could certainly get a better deal than you are on, but £10 would be pushing it.0 -
I've been thinking about changing the TV channels to our VM package. The price increase and infrequent service gave my memory a jolt and reminded me to look at whats out there.
Currently on BB:M (20mg), Phone: M and TV: M+ with a VM regular box at £39.15 a month before the increase kick in.
Yesterday my better half (kindly as a Bday present) upgraded to BB: 30mb, TV: M+ with a Tivo box and Sky Sports package for £68 a month plus £50 installation fee.
That seems a bit OTT to me, especially as the BB rarely goes above 5 mg before midnight. Is this a retentions job?
ps definitely not my first post, but wahey anyway!!!0 -
I wouldn't be paying any installation fees so yeah, go through retentions.
The cost you are seeing, 50% of that is due to the Sky Sports alone...0
