I cancelled a few weeks ago and received a deal from outbound cancellations a week later which I declined.
Didn't hear anything back and as they were going to cut me off this Saturday I caved in :embarasse and rang them back.
I said if they could offer me the same deal I may stay. They matched the offer so I accepted. It is a 12 month contract but the deal stays in place for 2 years:
TV L.
Phone (free evening and weekends).
Broadband 30Meg with new hub.
500Gig Tivo.
Free installation and 1 month free.
£43.50 a month (includes £13.90 line rental)
Over the year the cost of this works out the same as I am paying now but extra 20Meg BB speed and Tivo.Debts: Virgin Card [STRIKE]£5,600[/STRIKE] £5,636, First Direct [STRIKE]£7,700[/STRIKE] £7,000, Halifax [STRIKE]£3,200[/STRIKE] £3,810, Halifax Clarity [STRIKE]£755[/STRIKE] £711, Tesco [STRIKE]£4,005[/STRIKE] £4,450, MNBA [STRIKE]£6,700[/STRIKE] £6,580, Loan [STRIKE]£15,834[/STRIKE] £15,218 Total: [STRIKE](45K at highest) £43,794k[/STRIKE] £43,4050 -
Just wanted to report that I was paying sub £20 for Phone XL and Broadband L. My deal ended and went up to £28. I rang retentions: best they could offer was £24.90 for an 18 month contract. Or, if I dropped to Phone M £24.50.
Waited for a call from outbound retentions. Had several - all offering the same as above. One was even more expensive!
So - I've gone with Talktalk. £13.25 a month for 12 months (pay line rental up front) including a new line install, unlimited broadband. Free caller ID. The broadband is about half the speed of the 10Mbps I was getting with Virgin, but then I'll be paying almost half what Virgin would charge. We've moved our Virgin number to Sipgate so people can still ring us.
A similar thing happened to a friend so I wonder if Virgin are purging the low value customers?0 -
Does anyone have an email address for cancellations. Thanks.0

I currently have virgin phone and broadband. I get 10mb broadband and weekend calls only for the phone package. I am paying £28.90 but it seems like others are paying much cheaper for better services than I am currently paying for, some deals including TV. My contract ends in the next month or so, are there any tips for me of better deals received by other members who were on the same deal?
Many thanks in advance.0 -
Any good virgin media deals on for existing customers(15yrs+)?
I have M TV and looking to get L at the lowest price possible
Currently paying:
L Broadband (Free upgrade from 10mb to 30mb + Free super hub last week)
L Phone
M TV + Old Samsung Box ( Need V HD Box too as I just got HD TV) + Asian Mela
£42.50/month (Includes £8 loyalty discount)
Thanks0 -
I'm thinking of replacing Sky Movies with Netflix
Has anyone done this yet and what do you think is it a good substitute?
I tried the Netflix and Lovefilm free trials. The problem is that the movie studios are divided between these two companies, meaning that if you pick one of them, you're sure to miss out on a lot from the other ! Sky on the other hand has deals with all major film studios.
Lovefilm is better than Netflix in terms of latest movies but Netflix has superior HD and DD 5.1 streaming.
It's hard to say if it's worth cancelling sky movies for these and it will depend on what movies you like. Best thing to do is try the one month free trials and decide then.:cool:0 -
It depends on your taste, I think netflix has a bigger selection of 'classic' movies - Both had streaming issues, my BB is pretty fast BUT with both services they choked in 50% of movies watched. Really puts you off. I really think the lovefilm DVD service is still the best, its kinda fun too.0
