you can only begin the cancellation if you have 30 days left on your contract. If you're doing this exactly 30 days before then you should be okay - but I think you might find they will do their best to not let you get to the cancellation point - expect an offer or two - although you are not, in the grand scheme of things a high spender so be cautious just how hard you push them for a deal...0

I've posted on another section as i didnt realise there was a page for just vm.
I currently have
xl bb ,xl tv and xl phone i got it down to £30 a month when i threatened to leave last july anyway it went up in march by £3.50 i think and now its going up this month to £54 so i rang up a couple of weeks back and gave 30 days notice.
My wife works for bt so she can get bb unlimited so to be infinity just been upgraded in the area for free plus bt vision etc free aswell.
All we have to pay is line rental and thats it but i will miss alot of channels on virgin .
Rententions rang me up a couple of days later and offered
tivo ,xl bb,xl tv, and evenings and weekends for £46
I said no and haven't heard anything since do i go ahead and order bt which i did last year and virgin rang me 2 days before installation and offered me the £30 a month or do i stick with bt.0 -

I was on £50 per month for M+ TV, L Broadband and XL calls with the 08 add and I have been offered a new price at about £35 for the same thing, except the 08 add on which I ditched, but I want more!
It really annoys me that they charged me so much for so long when they didn't need to. I am concerned that if I cancel, they won't call back as my bill of £50 or £35 per month isn't a huge earner for them.
Are we sure that they always call back?
I'm not sure BUT If it gets towards the end of your notice period and they haven't, you can "cancel your cancellation"0 -

How about taking a Virgin TV package and BT for the rest. I'm planning to split my services and it seems easy.0 -

You both need to call based off this offer:
£45 Bundle, £13.90 Line Rental = £58.90
http://store.virginmedia.com/bundles/premiere.html
60mb Broadband
1TB Tivo
1 V HD Box
XL TV
Talk Weekends
Call them up and say you want that offer - the 1tb tivo box is a special offer, so you will need to specify that they match that, you could also push to see if they will offer you a month or two free on the basis new customers are getting 6 months half price.
NOTE: This will enter you into a new contract period - unlikely to be avoidable I am afraid.
2ND NOTE: Refuse any and all installation charges, if they wont do it with no charges then go through with the cancellation, when they call you back and offer you a deal there will be no installation charges - the outbound calling retention team seems to have alot more flexibility with these charges.0 -

I phoned up to add XL phone and ended up discussing the new collections. Never threatened to leave just asked if my existing discount would still apply to the collections. They said no, but have agreed to the following for £55.40 per month
30Mb broadband incl free superhub
XL TV
TiVo (not sure of size but not too fussed)
Relocation of existing V+ box to bedroom
XL Phone + line rental
Plus £49.99 installation which I'm too bothered about considering the installs that are taking place plus I was about to pay £35 to have a new aerial installed into bedroom which I won't need now.
Very happy bunny.:j0 -
Got this from outbound retentions...
30Mb broadband incl superhub
L TV
TiVo 500gb
M Phone
£39.90 a month, free installation and 2 months free credited to my account. Didn't seem too bad. Effectively works out at £33.25 over a 12 month period.0 -
Hi can anyone tell me what number the outbound retentions dept call from? Would just like to see if the number is on missed calls list if they have tried phoning whilst I was out?
Thanks0
