update, just logged into my virginmedia to track my orders, as its put on the webpage and it says on there, my disconnection date is 14 June and that an engineer is also booked for the 14 june which i assume is to pick up the modem they recently supplied.
But, I was told my disconnection date was 13 June, still no letters from VM concerning this, NO phone calls from retention, no phone calls from David who's supposed to be dealing with my complaints / situation. Maybe I should give my sister in law a phone call, she works for trading standards in portsmouth. seems David has finished with it, so to speak, when i phoned yesterday, was told by the person i was speaking to on the phone he would get him to phone me back.
What to do?. After looking at all the other suppliers i got 2 choices, 1 leave VM and not bother getting phone and BB with the others, i dont like any of the "deals" they got. Would need unlimited BB which most of them do but it seems to push the price out of the area I'm even currently paying with VM.
my VM was Telephone XL and BB M, for £31 no tv package.
managed to get it down to £24.60 which i cancelled due to the problems with the BB and the new modem, aka modem firewalled so bb = 0bytes.

christie thanks for the reply but already checked on the infinity and its not available in my area also we already have a phoneline for bt it just needs to be reactivated, before we switched to VM years ago we were with BT. so it shouldnt be much of a problem.
just checked my email and had a final bill from Virgin Media, which i cant understand.

To DrHackenbush how close to your leaving date did you get the call from retentions.
2nd your BB should be a minimum of 20mb due to all 10mb customers being upgraded for free.which is what i should have been on in March / April but wasnt until May, when i phoned for a better deal and they told me they would send me a new router/modem, which as you can see went like Captain Jack Sparrow, down south.

I gave notice on 28thMay to disconnect on 28th June. They first rang me on 31st and then I had missed a couple of calls from them last week and the last call was 8th June.
I had checked and my BB is due to double in July. When I asked the retentions guy to confirm that he said he could not confirm that. I said but surely VM are saying that all the BB will double and he agreed but said he could not say that was part of my deal.
If there is any doubt about that when I get the written contract I will get back on to them before signing. He did ask if I had a superhub, which I have as a I had a fault on old modem last month and engineer came out and replaced it with the new one.

Your lucky to have received that many still waiting for my first call from retentions its now Monday 11 June and my disconnection date according to their website under my account is 14 June.
Just written another email to the ceo as David in complaints whos dealing with me seems to be on holiday again, phoned up using 150 no to speak to customer services press whatever 1-5, finally got through to someone and asked to be put through to complaints and David only to be told they dont except incoming calls, I told her that i phoned last week and got through after given an extention number, she replied i was lying. and she wasnt.
Guess i better phone up on the 0845 2340755 ext 6563 number i was given. which funny enough gives me the same people if you dial 150.

got through on the above number, and spoke to david, who told me I should have received a phone call from the IT department, my reply Nope, had no phone calls from anyone at virginmedia.
so I guess the woman i spoke to today got the wrong david. does anyone at VM know what they are doing.
I can see the price of their shares going down instead of UP this year, with more and more customers being treated like crap, and therefore taking there business elsewhere.

Just had a phone call from david, the IT have been trying to activate the modem after removing it from the walled garden but couldnt, Duh! its not connected, i was told by the engineer who came out with the new replacement modem to reconnect the old one and at least have BB as I.T wouldnt remove it from the walled garden, i also asked why retentions haven't phone. answer, the system says i still have 10months left on my contract, the new contract which i took out and cancelled within the 7 day cooling off period. why is that contact still on going, surely that should have been remove from the system the day i cancelled it.
So david asked me what i wanted to do. I replied the whole reason was for me to get a better deal, and that i was really pivved when the new modem turned up that i couldnt get online after the activation FAILED 3 times and then i was lied 2 after that 7 times.
    Suggestions please..
1 leave virginmedia and go with another company.
2 stay with them and see if i can get a better deal. like 6months free like BT's and Sky.
phoning me back tomorrow to see what i want to do. And i got no idea

Just got my call from retentions, previously had M+ TV, XL phone, L Broadband and Sky sports for £59. As its going up next month decided to cancel. They originally offered the above with a new TIVO box free for £61.90. Declined this. I have now got 30mb broadband and evening and weekends phone for £16 per month with the first 2 months free on 18month contract making it £14.22 a month.
They started off at £24.40 a month for this.
I am going to get Sky with entertainment and Sports for £40 month with £100 M@S and £80 Quidco on 12 month contract making it £25 month, so less than £40 total which I can live with.
  • just called VM as contract is up in 2 days, was offered....

    TV XL - hd
    tivo with free installation
BB stays at 30meg as they drop it to 10 to get price and 10 is 30 now anyway

£32.90 on 12 months contract with discount extending for 24

is that a good deal these days?

depends on what TV XL is.

currently i'm on £24.60 with 20mb BB and telephone XL. which is anytime on calls which are free upto 60min if they start with 01 02 03
and yes after 5weeks of problems with my new 20mb "Free" upgrade which they didnt tell me when i asked for the hub would be a new 12month contract which i'd actually cancelled within the 7day period but because i never sent back the hub on the 14th because david in virginmedia complaints department had cancelled the disconnection on the 13th as he wanted to get the BB working which has taken 5 weeks and a lot of phone calls. pretty much daily, before i actually decide on what i'm going to do. leave or stay.

really funny thing is i've also had 10 calls from indian scammers telling me there is something wrong with my computer and to go to a website. funny as in as soon as i say i havent got internet they put the phone down.
Just had one calling themselves windows technical department.

I am moving to a new house and would like to threaten to leave Virgin media to get a better deal but my new house is with VM.

If I connect back to BT or Primus would have to pay line rental to them and if I used say plusnet pay line rental to plusnet again to get their BB?

I want to get my facts rights before I phone up to threaten to leave but I am confused on this issue.

turns out I was lied to by VM retentions...

TiVo installed today and extra promised HD channels nowhere to be seen, just your regular HDs

VM said nothing they can do, I have told them to come collect everything

emailed the CEO (Neil Birkett) and already had a reply.. we'll see what comes of that

    cocks!

Contract came through and it was the most confusing nonsense I have ever seen. Their remit must be to confuse their customers with credits, loyalty discounts, and contradictions. I phoned them and even their own staff couldn't unravel the way the contract had been set up. I have now cancelled once and for all, you just can't trust them I'm afraid.
  • Phoned them up to say I am paying more that some one new getting a 100mb. Signed up for 100mb service and happy with a further 12 month service and costing me less. So got my speed doubled sooner that should happen for my post code
