Hello there im just looking for advice to see if im on a good deal here is a list of what i have.
xl Tv.
30MG BB
xl Phone
500gb tivo box
v+ hd box upstairs.
sky sports and the price comes to £81.40 a month, im not very good at this sort of stuff and everything is out of contract apart from my tv as that is to finish in july this year. I have rung to haggle a better deal but they say they cant as im on a good deal already. I am interested in the 100mg bb but no look in getting a good deal, is it best to wait till my tv contract is up? thanks in advance.0 -
I could not negotiate reduction on my £3.70/month price increase either, so far.
Has anyone got reduction on price increase ??

Getting a one off credit for whole price increase for the year worth £40.
First person in retentions I tried didn't want to know, second person gave me a deal after I complained about price increase, said I was thinking of leaving/cutting back services, said the 10+% increase was outrageous & could not be justified.

Like most of you my bill has also increased this month so I would like to try and get a discount. It has gone up by £3.25 a month which is unnacceptable!
I just wanted to check which number you are all calling in order to get through to the retentions team? Is it 08000520870 as mentioned at the start of the tread or is this no longer in operation?

Ok I've been eyeing up the Tivo box for a while but on the other-hand also seeing an increasingly large dent in my finances made by VM. Phoned 150 and got through to cancellations and I mentioned I felt cost didn't match equipment/service( being 3 years old). I didn't really want to leave VM due to hassle. I had had a sneaky thought about cancelling and then my husband becoming a new customer but VM rep said that a new customer was either a person or address without VM for 120 days. I couldn't go cold turkey for that long so allowed myself to do the following....not very good at negotiating and I don't really think I've got an amazing deal but thought I would post it as I found similar posts helpful to me.
OLD price £60 p/m (including increase)
V+ HD box
2nd ordinary box
XL TV
Unlimited Phone
10mg Broadband
Caller id
NEW price £60.50
Tivo Box (no installation/activation costs I was assured)
V+HD box moved to replace old ordinary box
XL TV
Evening & weekend calls
10mg BB
Caller id
Fitting/moving them on Thursday this week.
Not fantastic, but I do feel glad I made the call as now I'll have the Tivo and a much better box in the bedroom so I can watch recorded stuff there. Reason to downgrade phone was that I'll use my mobile minutes instead (not with Virgin tho).

Called VM today to try and get a reduction on my £51 / month.
Currently have V+ box
XL TV
L Phone
10MB BB
Best none VM deal I can get is Talk Talk BB & line rental (£12.75) & Sky (£25) - £37.75 and when I asked what they could do was offered £44 / month. I think I will phone again and see what better offer I can get. I either want the offer matching or getting close. If they can't reduce the money I want Tivo downstairs, V+ box as multiroom plus new router. I will see what happens.0 -
I am moving from Virgin Media, have passed on MAC to new provider. Virgin charge 1 month in advance and tell me I have to give one month's notice of cancellation.
However Virgin cancelled a £10 per month discount for a year when the contact was only into the first 6 months. After some hassle and contact with OFCOM, they said I could without penalty, since they had changed the original contract.
The proposed increase from virgin from 1st April was the last straw and was the reason I decided to move to another ISP.
1. Do I need to give Virgin a month's notice of my transferring to another ISP as they broke the contact by cancelling my £10 per month discount ?
2. Can I just cancel my direct debit to Virgin and pay nothing more to them as it does not get paid till later this month ?

I got a good result on Monday. I called retentions and told them I wanted the 100 meg broadband, M phone and caller ID, and I wanted free installation. That is, after all, what they offer their new customers and I've been with them for 13 years now.
They didn't argue, just gave it to me, and at a slightly lower price than normal too without me even asking (39.50 instead of 42.75).
Why they had to argue the first time is beyond me.0 -
I got a deal !!! :T

T-Mobile sent me a letter saying my package was increasing by 3.7% in line with Retail Price Index (RPI).
This is something else to use to get discount or better deal from Virgin Media.

I called retentions but got nowhere fast (didn't threaten to leave). As I am on quite a good deal I don't like to push it in case they change anything!
£3.50 per month rise only 4 months into the 18 month contract - annoying that they don't honour prices agreed for the contract term when as customers we would be penalised (and before someone says we can leave due to rise, I don't want to, I just want what I agreed to!).
