After reading some of these posts I think I'm on a bad deal! Been with VM since the Telewest days and currently on:
BB: L
TV: XL
Phone: XL
V+HD Box
1 Additional V Box
Call divert
Sky Sports Package
All for the princely sum of £94.65 per month! Surely I can do better...Save £12k in 2019 #111 £440.39/£4000
Sealed pot challenge #5 £153.59/250
Weight Loss 28/60 lb challenge0 -
Having some worries here. After cancelling I received phone calls from VM the next day and the day after. I answered and said I need time to think about it, can you call me back. The guy said sure, I'll call you back tomorrow.
It's now been over a week and I haven't had another call from VM. What's going on? :S anyone have any past experience? Does this usually happen?0 -
I have the following :-
TV - XL
Phone - L
500GB Tivo
2xHD boxes
BB - 50MB
Paying average of £92 a month.
Would like :-
TV - XL plus Sky sports HD
Phone - L or XL
Same Tivo and Sam 2xHD boxes
BB - 30MB (updated to 60MB when it arrives next month I think).
The latest offers suggest I can get the above for £90 plus line rental £14 and an extra HD box £6.50 and that includes the 100MB BB totalling around £111.
Any suggestions on if I can get what I want for same price I am paying now. Been with VM since it started many years ago......0 -

You wont get SS and SS HD for the same price - they are small margin products for VM, they would discount your other items, but not likely by much...the third box is also a complication for retentions - I would guesstimate a best price of £105 ish...
P.s. check that upgrade date, mine has slipped from July this year to October to July NEXT year in the last few days...0 -
I only have L broadband so wasn't holding out much hope for a deal, but I did get one.
So originally it was £21.00 pm but went up to £22.50, but they agreed to drop the price down to £20.50 (only 50p saving on original price) but under the stipulation that the contract was lengthened to 12 months from today. I only need broadband for another 10 months (moving) so they said that if I rang up before I moved they could cancel the before the 12 months were up for a small charge of around £7. If I wanted to cancel the contract now based on the price hike, I'd have had to pay the outstanding 5 months until the current contract ended which came to like £112 (but he said £78 weirdly, until I mentioned £112 and he said 'oh yeah, £112').
So not a superb deal but considering I could not leave them without a large penalty, I think it's ok - saving £2 per month.
By the way, to get round the huge cost of calling customer services from a mobile AND the annoyingly long wait (always over 10 mins in my experience), use a virgin sim (only 10p per min). Even better, use one with no credit, dial 789 to top up, man will say 'add card', press 0 for operator, tell them you have a question about broadband and they transfer you to them. Much less of a wait too.0 -
Currently paying £29/month for:
L BB
M TV
M Phone
V+ box
After some discussion was offered:
60MB BB
M Phone
for £26.40/month (with no TV)
Bit more haggling and got caller ID included.
Was thinking of accepting but then told there would be a £30 installation fee for the Superhub. Gave my notice in instead.
Think I'll be happy with that deal if they drop the fee but last time I tried leaving didn't get anything any better.
Not too bothered about dropping the TV as Freeview provides much the same but I will miss the V+ box so may yet end up staying as I am!
When you mention M Phone,do you mean mobile phone package?...if so,what does your M Phone package consist of for this amount? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

If you wanted to cancel now due to price hike then it is without penalty (if you are still in the cancellation period).
M phone was the lowest (line plus weekend calls only).

I also have a virgin broadband line and a bt phone line. Phoned virgin to day to complain about the price rise to £22.50 pointing out I was going to move my broadband to BT and they immedietely reduced my broadband rental to £15.50. The phone call to virgin was on my BT phone line and cost nothing as you can contact virgin on an 0845 number. As they had already taken £22.50 from my bank I also got a rebate :T0 -
Apologies if I've missed something but I wondered if anyone can help with the following:
1 Do you have much / any bargaining power with retentions if you're say only 6 months into an 12 / 18 month contract?
2 Can anyone confirm if you cancel partway into a longer contract whether you have to pay all the remaining monthly costs off?
3 Is it possible to find out when your contract ends if you didn't make a note of it?!
4 For those who don't have bundled TV: can this deal be improved much?
- line rental £14
- 10mb cable bb £15 (incl. discount)
- 24/7 calls £8
- caller display £2
- no tv
total £39 (this is after expiry of an introductory 6m halfprice bb offer)
Apologies again if this has been asked before.0 -

Normally no but the price rise may give you the chance to threaten to leave and that may give you chance to renegotiate
2 Can anyone confirm if you cancel partway into a longer contract whether you have to pay all the remaining monthly costs off?
I believe that it may be slightly reduced if you cancel during normal contract (will be on their website)
3 Is it possible to find out when your contract ends if you didn't make a note of it?!
Yes, ask them or look at your bills in My VirginMedia, as they note dates packages added/changed
