    Thanks all for your help.

I will try an email first.

Does anyone know the email address please, I may have a virgin or blueyonder email account but it's been years since i've used it and I have no idea what it is!

I definitely call them - don't email - it can be ignored and I can almost guaratee they will reply asking you to call in anyway...

Call them back and see what the date on disconnection is - each call to retentions is a retention attempt, they may offer something different...remember, you can only compare like for like on these offers - you need to see what others are quoting and see how it compares to yours in price terms...

Bigger packages offer more room for movement it seems.

Also they only ever call home phones when trying it seems, no matter how many times you try to point out you ain't in!

Ok, i called them myself, the guy was ok, fixed a fault with my Dads account while i was there too... tried all the usuall garb but i explained that a grand a year for all the hassle is not worth paying a grand a year for - explained that a dozen times...
He was quick to reply with you wont get any better anywhere else and gave me quotes from BT... lol.
Disconnection set for 6th of Jan

Good on you for sticking with it - 72hours seems to be when most calls occur in...
  • A call it is then.

I don't have a home phone so they've been phoning my mobile with the other offers.

My price isn't really massive, I pay £67 for my current package, maybe that's why they're not that bothered if I leave.
  • Just rang, Said i'm disconnecting and i've totally forgot the date.

All he said was " Ok i'll check, Yeah that will go from the 12th"

No question why and no offers lol.

£67 with no land line or land line rental is quite high!

I pay £33 a month including line rental and they wanted to keep me.

I had my best offer from emailing them, login into Virgin media and go through help and then next to get an email contact form. I had a call the next day on a Sunday, offering me the £33 per month.

I've head calling from 7pm onwards may get you a better chance of someone able to sort you out.

TBH I've got my contract through today and its wrong - the monthly is right but its got a bunch of activation charges on it and the goodwill I had showing in my account turns out to be the superhub activation being waived.

I've called to get this all corrected and spoke to a right obnoxious agent - I asked for a call back from the people offered me my deal - they refused and then the agent twice told me they would happily put through a disconnection request.

Starting to get really p'ed off with the lack of care at a retentions level now. Im awaiting a call back from the loyalty team now after repeatedly saying I wanted to speak to them...a

Sorry Poppy9, I meant it may not be that high to VM when comparing to those with around the £100 packages.

I agree £67 is high though for what I have, but I chose not to have a landline which bumps the price up.
  • Hmmm well following these threads on here I've just cancelled my Virgin account. Last week a woman in the retentions time was pretty helpful but wasn't fully happy with the deal. Today the bloke I spoke with seemed as though he couldn't care less! Currently on TVXL, Broadband L, Phone XL, was looking to upgrade to 50mb or 100mb broadband, 2 x tivo boxes, keep phone as is. Best deal they offered was £92.50 for package with 100mb (which is exactly what it was online), or £80 on the 50mb. When I said this was only the same as for new customers online I was told that Virgin are having to compete hard for new customers and sometimes the best deal an existing customer can get is just what new customers get. They were prepared to waive activation on broadband, and installation of one tivo box, but insisted on charging standard £49.99 on the other. Would be happy with the £78 if all installation charges were waived, but now beginning to wonder if I'm just being greedy; £49 for two pretty impressive bits of kit (tivo boxes) doesn't seem too bad? Cancellation date given for 06/01/2012 so gonna see if anything happens within the next few days.

i posted on this thread a week or 2 ago about my mum's 'deal' whihc i think seems astronomical. I'm going to her house this afternoon to call them and see if we can sort something out. I'm not hopeful of immediate success having seen the previous posts! I just want to double check that if i have to resort to cancelling, that we can 'cancel' the cancellation withougt incurring further charges.

    Thanks

If you cancel your cancellation then it should stay the same as now (must cancel within the 30 days though most people have done the deal by then ... that said, I cancelled my cancellation last year as I couldn't get my replacement service set up in time and then cancelled again the following day - they finally called a few days later and did the deal!).
