  • Got a 12m half price offer on the table to join sky but it's only for tv.

So may look to get better desk with virgin. What would be a good price for the following

    Xl tv
Xl bb 30mb (currently have 10mb)
    M phone
    Line rental

    Free TiVo
Keep VHd box for upstairs preferably free
    Super hub

    Currently pay 55 a month.

Main uses are espn for UFC but wondering whether anyone ever gets good deals on sky sports

    Thanks advance

P,s. it's in my mrs name and she's useless at these calls so I have to train her before she calls :-)

You should get that deal for about the same price £55.

If you quote the offer on their website

    http://shop.virginmedia.com/digital-tv/set-top-boxes/tivo-box-prices.html

"Want to know what’s even better than having the future of TV in your own home? Knowing it won’t cost you a fortune. In fact, new customers can get our 500GB box with free activation worth £49.95 and there’s free installation with all our TV bundles too, also worth £49.95. "

The free tivo, installation and moving box to another room should be easy. I was told when I did my parents that their is an offer on to keep the existing box and relocate it at no extra charge or fees.

The only sticking points I suspect will be the XL BB and the super Hub. You may have to pay slightly more than £55, but I wouldn't pay more than £60.

I would also quote another offer on their website which says new customers get a free superhub with XL BB.

Thanks for all the posts re price. It gave me a lot of ammunition when I rang them. Been with Virgin for the past 10 years, initially rang in July and enquired about Tivo and was quoted £50 instal and £3 extra per month, didn't bother at that stage. Then rang them a few weeks ago and the girl told me that as I was on a special deal price I could have Tivo but they'd have to migrate me off the special offer rate and onto the standard charge, then pay the £3 extra!!! Which meant my price went from £52 to £69! Needless to say I declined. Rang to cancel and was then told I could have Tivo free just pay the £3 more a month, retaining my V+ HD box to replace my old outdated older box in the other room. After reading the forum I decided to call their bluff and stick to my guns and cancel. Cancelled wednesday got a call yesterday(friday).

The guy asked why I was leaving, I stated price saying I could get broadband and phone for £22 with Orange, so paying £30 per month for TV when I already have HD tv's. He then said they have some really good offers on Tivo and would I be interested, he said I could have a new Tivo box, they'd move my V+ HD box into my other room and everything else to stay the same for £42 per month. When I responded that it was food for thought, he automatically said if I stay with them for 18 months, he can also offer 1/2 price line rental, taking it down to £35. Whoop, whoop £20 per month saving and an upgraded service. Result.

We have been with Virgin for years now, through the years we've found some better deals and through customer retention offers we have stayed. We are at the stage now though where we are paying a small fortune and although the package is fair, the price should be better, the customer service is DIRE to NONE EXISTANT, the BB is problematic and most of the time the features for the V+ Box do not work. I feel we should as loyal customers and with the vast ammount of complaints we have put in as well as been unable to put in we should be offered a great deal but simply we have no idea what to do.
    Currently we have -

    10mb BB
    XL TV
    V+ Box
Very Old Virgin Box in other room
    XL Phone
    Sky Sports
    Sky Movies

    £89.90 a month

Can anyone please give us a kind of run through on what to do and say to get a much better deal please? Mmmmm... Beer....

 Just called V.M and told them we wanted to leave, upon asking why they corrected our BB package as they had dropped it to 2meg when we were paying for 10 meg... so they changed that back to normal, typically the V+ box actually was ok when they asked me to check it. Still unhappy with the overall package and price though and all they have done is fix what they broke. Need help on what action to take to get a better deal! Thanks
