Bunch of pirates! Been a customer with them since diamond cable days, not sure why though. Called up retentions a week ago as Sky were offering a very good deal, and a nice lady offered a £6 discount from the standard prices.
10 meg broadband and basic phone = £21.40
Called back two days later and another advisor talked me into 20 meg for £29.50. As i didn't check normal prices I presumed this was still including a £6 discount. Checked the website and I figured out that I had been talked into the normal price paid by everyone else. When I called today saying I wasn't happy that the same £6 discount had not been applied, they wouldn't budge an inch. When I explained surely if I had been offered £6 off on 10 meg that must also apply to all other bb packages, to which she replied 'that's not how it works.' Looking on this forum many have got 30 meg and phone for £27.50, so she is talking a load of rubbish.
Ended up going back down to 10 meg with discount included. Really wish I had asked to be disconnected now. Rubbish service.-1 -
Poppy9 - I think you are just unlucky to be honest!
I had my Tivo installed tuesday, the engineer came at 8.30 am. I haven't had a single problem with it.
However, I did notice that at around 2pm, their was a different engineer doing something to the box in the street, I don't know what, but it made my internet go off for a short time. I don't know if this was just a coincidence and unrelated, but maybe they have to change some settings in the green box when installing tivo??
My parents had tivo installed yesterday, their engineer came at 7.20 am! They haven't had a problem with theirs either.
To be fair though, we only live about 5 miles apart in Leeds. I do have a friend in Plymouth who had Tivo installed in the past few weeks and he was complaining about not being able to record anything on his box and he had to have an engineer out to fix that.
I am still waiting for my new Hub to be delivered in the post, but I am blaming that on the useless postal service in my area.0 -

It has decided to work today. I started another thread just about my Tivo and someone told me it might not be the box but the strength of signal. I am leaving the call stand for an engineer to come Monday as there is obviously something wrong for both boxes to fail after 1 day!~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

I've tried doing this and it states the account does not exist or is not eligible?

hello all, new to this thread, we have sky and are (reasonably!) happy with it but my mum who is 73 has virgin and i've just discovered that her most recent bill was an eye popping £73!! She has a very basic package
TV M
Broadband L
V+ HD
Talk Weekends
The above comes to £21
Then she has £13.90 phone rental
She has call charges of £32.80+ VAT & also £1,50 for paper bills. She has no extra tv chanels and hardly uses the computer.
I'm going to change her to paperless bills & print them for her, I also think she needs unlimited calls, how much does that tend to cost? She doesnt actually use the phone that much, just to call local calls & also to ring my brother on his mobile but he always calls her straight back. So I'm going to ring them from her house tomorrow and pretend i'm her. From skimming this thread it seems that you dont get put thru to 'retentions' they have to call you back is that right? Also if i do end up threatening to cancel and they 'call my bluff' am i right in saying i can cancel the cancellation withought extra charges?
Thanks0 -
me again - sorry just a thought, she hasnt got HD TV so dont know why she has that on her bill, or is it standard?
thanks again0 -

1) dont pretend to be her, thats illegal and entirely avoidable - have your mum call and say she wants you to deal with it and she authorises you to deal with it - they will deal with you and should haven't any issues.
2) if shes out of contract then you are in a much better situation.
3) call through and select the 'Im thinking of leaving' option - explain that the bills are too high and what can they do - you look to be best adding the talk mobile option and the XL phone, maybe witht he 0845 pack too - they will probably be able to change the three for around £10-£12 - therefore knock about £20 off the current bills.me again - sorry just a thought, she hasnt got HD TV so dont know why she has that on her bill, or is it standard?
thanks again
If she has a V+ box this will allow her to record programmes and rewind channels she's watching - the V+ HD is its just its product name, it works for SD as well as HD.0 -
thanks visidiji. yes prob better to get her to ring first and then pass them onto me. I;d like ot think that i dont sound like a woman in her 70s!!
Will ring today or tomorrow and let you know how i get on0 -
Fojo You don't need to give notice or threaten to leave for them to offer you a better deal or a discount.
It is just that if your contract is up and go through that process, you are likely to get a better deal.
I have mentioned my parents package in other comments. I rang up on their behalf, they were only 12 months into an 18 month deal. I managed to get them free tivo, keep their own box and installed in bedroom, free installation, no additional costs, just by ringing up and asking for it.0
