1. As yours is a new deal as a new customer, you don't have much scope to negotiate a better deal. This thread is really about people renewing their contracts.
2. Not sure about this, but I thought you could keep your number, cable or line.
3. From my personal experience virgin customer service has been good, not really had any problems. They have done everything I would expect.0 -
hi folks,
Virgin
max phone
10mb bband
line rental
was paying 30.00ish (as we pay for 0845 etc) now 23.40 (as other have mentioned). Don't have superhub or tv.
Tried to get basic tv (m +) added to deal, this would have taken bill to 33.90 and adding recording (tivo?) would have taken it to 36.90
Still in 7 day cooloff period.
any thoughts welcome

I agree with all te above, was with talk talk for a while, ended up with a call to the fraud squad (altthough that wasnt all talk talks fault but it was mostly!!) personally i steer clear of talk talk and every time i have had a problem virgin have been really good, if something goes wrong call them and complain and hey presto you dont pay while what ever doesnt work!0 -
Hey guys and girls,
I am a long serving VIP customer paying over £100 a month for an ok service. It was the final straw when I realised I had to pay over £2 a month extra just to get caller display (which i thought was free), I decided to look at Sky and did a package comparison to VIP and found it was £14 cheaper (with Caller Display free) per month. Not including all the cashback and vouchers.
If I phone CS to cancel what sort of offers should I be happy to get. I do not want to be greedy just fair.
Thanks in advance0 -
2) Talk Talk told us that as we'll be switching from a phone line to a cable line, there is NO way that we'd be able to retain our existing phone number. However, Virgin say that it is 100% certain that we will keep it. One is telling porkies but I can't tell which, as both would have good reason for doing so. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Retaining your number isn't always possible switching cable to BT or to VOIP - it depends on whether VM and BT/Talk Talk are using the same exchange in your town/city. If they are, it is okay, if not, it apparently isn't possible (we had this when moving a mile to a new home a few years ago and it wasn't possible as VM use the exchange nearest their offices before it went down the cable, if that makes sense, rather than the nearest BT exchange).
That said, I am not saying anyone is lying to you, but who stands to gain ...

He then offered me my deal for £58.
I asked about the HD package included, he said £65 with that.
I said i'd like to think about it, so he offered to ring me again but also said "or I could cancel your d/c and I could send you the contract and if you're not happy you could cancel"
I said "No, don't cancel my disconnection, i'll think about it"
So He's calling me on Tuesday but I think i'll be accepting £58 :j
Would have liked Sport in HD but i'm happy without it, We cancel our Sky sports anyway once the footy seasons over.
Pretty amazed how £79 can get down to £58 so easily!
Update-- Had a phone call by someone different, I told him I wanted to accept the £58 deal and he said he would cancel my disconnection etc.
Got my contract today for £66.45. I've just rung them again and asked why it wasn't the price I agreed, She said she could only see that offer and there was no record of an offer for £58. So I told her, No, I didn't think there would be! (Is it just when it benefits them that they record their calls??)
So i've disconnected again! 13th December. !!!!!!!0 -
I still haven't got round to calling, going to try tonight - must admit, I need to stop reading the TiVO forums round the place, all the things I take for granted seem to be broken on TiVO - I don't know what sort of discount I'll get, I'm happy enough to stick with V+ - but the only reason I'm calling is my 12 months free HD ran out so now Im paying about the same as the 50 VIP but on the old school VIP (give or take)...I just don't know if I can be bothered to go through to the 30 day process, it seems that few VIP customers get that callback...0

visidigi - I got my tivo installed Tues, not got any problems with it.
My parents got theirs installed today, no problems.
The only thing I have noticed is, the red button function doesn't work for teletext or how you would expect it to on the v+ box, but they do warn you of this and are working on fixing this.
Also, there is a note that tivo boxes are currently being updated, this is all automatic though you just leave the box switched on. Think this tells you more if you interested:

With regards to the tivo box, it looks good, the menus look nicer, maybe a slightly better picture, it has a few more features than the v+ box and a lot more memory. I suspect that their is a bit of scope for the tivo box to evolve and more things could be added in time, such as apps, games, email, internet, or it would be good if they were. At the moment to me it is better than the v+ box, but nothing special.0 -

I guess it's a matter of personal preference as I thought the appearance of the TiVo box is very disappointing compared to the Samsung V+ box. TiVo is a large lump of black plastic with a few tiny led lights and power brick hanging down the back - looks cheap !!
In contrast the Samaung V+ is stylish in black and silver, slimline metal cabinet, circular blue LED and blue channel / clock display etc.
TiVo works differently so takes some time to get used to, its main advantage being the increased storage capacity. It has some annoying quirks though !! Picture quality slightly sharper on V+ but not much difference overall.0 -

Similar problem of what was offered by retentions differs considerably to the written contract - surprisingly calls they initiate are not recorded !!0
