    I am/was on

    M Broadband (10mb)
TV M (cheapest package - with virgin HD box)
Phone with unlimited landline - and some daft mobile £2 addon thing

Was paying around 26.50 per month for it (originally 19.50 when got the deal but each year its been shooting up. I rarely ever use the TV box (more or less just background news channels so freeview built into TV is mostly on) and phone only ever gets used for incoming sales pitches it seems so called to try to get best deal, mostly for net, with or without other bits and pieces

    At moment I've been offered
    10mb L package for £17 per month
20mb for £25 (supposedly this £3 off offer starts tomorrow - normally £28)
30mb is the standard £28.50 with no offers.

He did quote a bundle with the 30mb, without the unlimited calls etc but that was over somewhere over £30.

Given the 30 day notice in meantime....will await a hopeful sales call to get a slightly better deal, or failing that go with the £17 one.

Would the offer for £17 be valid for the whole length of the D/C notice do you know?

Also whats the best/cheapest deals on the 20mb lines? I've been told that its hard to get a cheap deal on 30mb, as their codes wont work on them, though can often get some more flexibility at 20mb speeds? Plus 20mb would keep me away from that dreaded superhub :)

Midnight Toyboy, that's interesting, since I'm on pretty much the same package. I've phoned today and pleased because they put us on a large package without our knowledge and then talked me into a contract, saying that nobody was on medium any more and everyone had been put onto Large in February. Well, looking at this thread and others on this site, I realised that was wrong. So I called back today and have been put back on the old price, which is £28.90 for Medium BB, Large phone (Talk Unlimited) and Medium TV. Really pleased to be back on the old deal and not having to pay nearly £40 for the same.

i actually asked bt to port my phone line after cancellation

    i got the following deal
xxl broadband /xl tv /xl phone/ half price phone line for 12 months /free sky sports one and two for 6 months.
cost £53.55 so i would say deals are negotiated on a person by person basis.
if the equipment is already installed then virgin should be able to drop charges quite easily.
  • had my callback today.

As mentioned before, I gave my notice in after paying £26.50ish for

    M BB
    basic TV box
phone line with unlimited landline calls

Explained I could get BT Infinity for average of £25.40 per month (not active in our area for a few weeks yet) with a supposed line speed of 27mb.

He offered the phone line with evening/weekend calls, and the 30mb broadband for £27.40

Asked and he said theres no connection fee or installation fees, asked about contract too and he popped on hold to check but then said I'm not held into another contract either (surprising)

Could have possibly held out for a better deal, but seemed reasonable enough for me.......minor discount on the £28.50 standard 30mb price, but still handy to have the phone for emergencies/receiving

Had our Tivo box installed yesterday and the picture on our TV is far superior to the picture we had with the V+ box.

Never got my call back from Retentions so needed to cancel my cancellation on day 29. Slight panic as my 30 days would have been up tomorrow and the 'thinking of leaving' service was closed until Monday. Eventually managed to find someone to uncancel me this evening although now I'm back to square one!

email them and saying you wish to leave them to move to Sky etc and you had to cancel your disconnection temporarily due to X emergency etc. and just ask can you re-arrange disconnection and I will bet they will call you.

Checked my account today, my one month free has been added, BUT, a £60 credit has been added as a gesture of goodwill.

    Very pleased!

Just have to wait for installation of TiVo on Tuesday, and see if everything has gone to plan.
