hi all
need to cutback on my bills, and thought virgin would be the first one to try and save money on, i have t.v size xl £20.50......sports package £18.00......broadband size m £18.00 are these prices reasonable or could i get them cheaper if i phone virgin.
regards

People asking "can I save money on my VM" or "I think i'm paying too much"... you need to ring up VM, tell them you are thinking of leaving because your bill is too much and see what they offer... you'll be surprised how easy it can be....
Before calling have an idea of what else is available out there... that means equivalent packages with Sky for example, or how much new VM customers get packages for....
@ rams, not sure about the rest but size m broadband is way too expensive... I pay £10 a month as an exisitng cutsomer... I think new customers get a better deal but £10 a month is minimum you should aim for.

I phoned a few months ago and was told no offers were available and because I am BB only, they can not offer me anything again in the future.
Just phoned, got £8 off my XL a month for the next 6 months.
Just keep trying...0 -

Don't phone to see what they will offer, convince yourself that you really are prepared to leave.
Use the options to get through to " I want to cancel a service", it may have changed since I called.
As others have said have the facts and costs to hand, then let them work to persuade you to stay.
Stay calm, polite and refuse the offer and say you want to leave.
Although I only have BB they tried to tempt me with various deals involving other services. I told them I only wanted BB.
I gave them facts and figures to show that I could get faster BB for a lot less than than the £18 mine would rise to after the first year.
Ahah said the VM guy "but you will have to get a BT line", I said "I already have one".
Result is 2meg BB for £9/mth on a 6mth contract.
If you do not get a satisfactory deal, try again the next day.
One more tip, I got the name and email of the guy who arranged the deal, retentions have more flexibility than ordinary CS.
This was useful when I called back, because the other retentions person didn't believe me regarding my deal, but was quickly able to check.
I know people have problems with VM but the couple of times I have called, I've found them as good as any other big company, and better than some.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
I am with virgin media and have the
broadband small
telephone XL
television Family Pack
my bill averages about £28.00 per month after discounts.
But my mother is on
telephone XL
television Family Pack
but her bill is about £37.00 after discounts per month. I dont understand they say that is all she can have but I can't understand when I have a extra package.
Any help to get my mum more of a discount would be grateful I have tried everything I can think off.

If shes outside of her contractual 12 months she can get a deal, if she isn't then the only time they'll barter is when her contract is up0

TV comes as either M, L or XL now, unless you are on an old package.
As you mention 'Family Pack' then you must both be well out of a 12 month contract.
You can get broadband L, TV XL and phone L for £35 paying DD and eBill. Around £41 for broadband L, TV XL and phone XL again DD and eBill but only if you phone up and go through to cancellations and tell them that you can get Sky TV 6 mixes, phone line and evening and weekend calls (or 24/7) calls for around the above price, they should then price match Sky. You could always add on a V+ box see what deal they could do on an install.
They may have some other deals, but you must go through to cancellations, the usual CS don't usually offer as good a deal, though if there's a new customer deal you like the look of when you get through to cancellations tell them you aren't happy they you can't get that same deal. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
VM will be getting a call from me this morning
Current deal I had which I negotiated in January was suppose to last a minimum of 12 months. It was:
XL TV Package
XL Broadband
Telephone
V+ Box
2nd Standard box
I was paying £41 per month in service charges.
This months statement is missing one of the usual discounts of '3 for £30 Bundle Saving -£11.50'
Not only that, theres an additional charge for services 24 June to 23 July of £11.50.
It looks like they're claiming back the 3 for £30 discount I had on last months bill.
Total services bill this month is £64 compared to my usual £41.
Just priced up identical package with Sky including line rental and they work out at £41 per month. Sky is also free evenings and weekends and their TV has Sky One and Sky News + many others.
I know Virgin will claim that the Sky+ box isn't HD, whereas their V+ box is, but since theres still only BBC HD on V+, I wouldn't be missing much.
Retentions, here I come...0 -
i was originaly on the 3 for £30 phone/broadband/tv package but when the 12 months were up the service charge costs rose to £54.45. £11.00 line rental, £3.45 evenings and weekends, £22.00 tv size xl and £18.00 bb size m. when i rang to try and better my deal i was told the only offer the could give was to increase my bb to xl and keep my other services for a total of £56.00. told them i didnt want to pay more and wanted to cancel these services and switch to another provider if this was all they had to offer to which she replied thats your choice, this was all she could offer and thank you for calling before hanging up. should i ring back and complain as it seems no-one on here has much luck when complaining or just ring straight through to retentions and ask them?
any help much appreciated, thanks.Nov 15. Loan debt £4175.120
