  • What's the likelihood of them phoning back with a better offer in a couple of weeks time? I don't really want to have to leave VM, so I'm hoping they will!

It's very likely they will phone you.

If you can't be bothered waiting, just call through to retentions again on the pretext of having forgotten what date your cancellation is.....you can be sure they'll try to start offering you various deals.

You have right up until the last day before cancellation to keep them guessing, so don't loose your nerve.

I was on S(mall) BB 2meg speed, paying £15 for the past 5 months, it had previosuly been around £10.

    New deal is £15.94 for L(arge) 10meg BB + M phone line + a D Link N router thrown in. Entered in a new 12 month contract too :-(

Still not as good as new customer offer of £270 for L BB + M phone -£65 Quidco -£50 online signup +£20 for self install = 14.58 a month.

Still have 7 days cooling off period. Should I haggle them down some more?

How do you get self-install please as I cannot see this mentioned on their site? Looking for BB and Phone only as we have moved to Sky for tv due to getting an excellent deal. Have given notice as they couldn't come up with a deal, therefore options are now to hold out for a deal, move elsewhere with a BT line or apply as a new customer for a Quidco/TCB cashback deal (not sure if that would work?).

    Many thanks

That's not too bad I reckon.

Maybe better to take what's on offer rather than all the hassle of the cashback etc for just a few quid.

I would reccommend asking them to throw something else in like the cheapest call package and/or the free calls to 084/087 numbers add-on that you can get.

Whatever you agree to, watch them like a hawk the first bill and after 6 months because they have a habit of not sticking by what they agreed to....which is why I prefer to stay out of contract with them and just keep asking for bill credits/discounts.

Very true! Make sure you get the new contract in writing too.

Took an email to the CEO to get what I had been promised.

If you go into the signing up as a new customer process, you will find a page that asks you about installation, one of the options there is self install. Just click that and they will send you the kit out. As for BB and Phone packages, I have written down what I have been offered so hope that helps you.

I'm thinking of getting them to add M TV service if possible! On the billing side, they tried to shaft me on my last deal, luckily I had a voice recording of the deal so I shafted them back a bit :-)

Yes, I had to do this too, once I emailed them the voice recording, they sorted it out straight away.
  • I just got a phonecall from virgin today offering a poor deal. ( I did phone up to cancel about a week ago so this was retentions phoning back).

Im curious, if i let this cancel out can i then sign up with a different persons name (first and second name will be different and dd details) as a new customer?

Yes, don't forget Quidco/Toppcashback as well, but you will lose your phone number (if you currently have one).

Just looked and the new contracts have gone up in price by 25p for each service, the £50 signup bonus from virgin has gone and been replaced by a rip off half price for 6 months and new contracts are for a minimum of 18 months:eek:

The small print shows that the price increase is reflecting the VAT increase in January - they note that payments for the next few months will be slighly less (ie I don't think that there has been yet another VM price increase, just advertising what it will be for the bulk of the contract). Contracts are 18 months if taking up the half price offer, otherwise still 12 months.
