i have M bb and a phone line with VM. I called retentions today as i would like a tv package as well. I currently pay 24.49 for phone and BB.
i was offered M BB, phone line and XL tv package for 40.46 a month but was told that I would have to pay 49.99 for the V+ HD box. sounds like a good deal to me but I don't want to pay 49.99 for the box do you think if I hold out they will give me the box for free?
Just started comping again, wish me luck!!!

Realising I was paying well over the odds after my contract expired (£26.99 for Broadband L, TV M and Phone M (was free L when still in contract)) I rang up to say I was thinking of leaving. I was offered a deal for £21.99 a month.
Ever since then- problems! Firstly they were still charging me for evening phone calls and I had to call them again to sort it out. But then, the contract they've sent me added up to £26.99 a month rather than the promised £21.99. So I emailed them a few days ago with this discrepancy and got a call today. The guy said that there was no offer for £21.99 and the price is £26.99. When I insisted that I'd been definitely been told £21.99 he had the audacity to imply that it had been my fault through a 'miscommunication' and that there was no reason why the guy I spoke to before would say it was £21.99.
So I said I'd cancel and then he saidwas still in contract- which I'd agreed to- for 12 months at £21.99!! Eventually he agreed to cancel it without any charge. But really, this kind of service and messing me around is terrible. Time to be rid of them!0 -
last 12 months I was on extra special deal for me which was 50mb broadband, xl phone, m tv all for £28 per month for 12 months. Now the 12 months are up my bill has shot up to £48 per month for the same services.
No matter how much I tried to reduce it, they won't budge and say there are no offers available and the best price is just that (£48 per month), even though I'm out of contract. I threatened to leave and they said it was my choice.
So I decided to get rid of the xl phone and just have very basic phone. Now I will have m tv, 50mb broadbad and basic phone and pay £39.99 per month, not tied into contract this time, can terminate by giving 30 days notice. This offer is advertised on their website for new customers aswell.
No loyalty discounts at the moment, and I've spoken to about 12-15 different advisors from the retentions department.
NOT HAPPY!!!0 -
Yep, they are being tight on their deals at the moment.
They phoned me today to 'discus' my 30 days notice to terminate.
Basically had exactly the same conversation as I'd had with retentions, and told me that I would be daft to pass up the opportunity to pay £15/mth for BB (L) or £15.99/mth for BB(L)+basic phone.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Currently paying £24/month for m broadband, phone and m tv. Phoned to cancel as I was going join Sky and get phone and broadband at £18/month as I have the half price sky offer from June 2010.
Anyway was offered £18/month so decided to stay. Seems a good deal.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -

That is interesting as I have been offered the same 'offer' today...they obviously have no idea what they're talking about, def best get rid!

I currently have the following virgin package:
Line Rental £11.99
Talk Unlimited £7.95
Phone, Bband L & TV M Saving £-10.00
TV Size: M £0.00
V+ HD Box £5.00
Broadband Size: L £25.00
total £39.94/month
Previously I was paying £25 for the same package (one year deal they gave me when I moved house and chose to stay with Virgin)
I was a bit shocked to find they had cranked the price up by nearly £15 - but it seems even as a new customer I wouldn't be paying much less than this.
Is the amount I'm paying reasonable for this package? if not what should I expect to be paying following a call to retentions?0 -
I have the following virgin package for £31.48 on a rolling basis as I've been out of contract since March they informed me I could stay on this deal without calling again this also includes a Phone extra of Call Barring at £2.00 this is to stop my bills from getting any bigger (Eg. Kids phoning mobiles) lol hope this helps some one.

Hi
It has been one year now with Virgin Media on the package of only 8 mb unlimited broadband and talk unlimited phone calls at £12.50. I have been impressed with that.
Have just called retentions and they were very happy to extend the deal to another year which I think is a pretty good deal. My phone line is with BT btw.
good luck
