I've got VM Broadband only and paying £18 per month.
Any advice for trying to haggle them down? It's difficult because no other company provides just broadband , so you can't do a direct comparison.
I only want broadband and If you say Plusnet will offer me broadband and calls for the same price, they'll try and persuade to take a phoneline too which i don't want . aaargh0 -

Phone them up and take the option for 'if you're thinking of leaving'......when you are connected to a person tell them you are leaving and you'd like to give your 30 day notice. When they ask you way, say it's too expensive. Whatever they say in response, just say it's too expensive and you can't afford it. Tell them you'll have to start using the library for internet. Just stick to your story. Last time I did this I got a £30 credit as a goodwill gesture WITHOUT TAKING OUT A NEW CONTRACT. This type of thing can be repeated every 3 months or so. I don't like contracts.
If they offer nothing go ahead with giving your notice.....then just ring up a few days later to cancel.0 -
Are you sure by giving 30 days notice and then cancelling the notice if nothing offered you are not entering into another 12 month contract tie-in??0

Currently out of contract and have the following:
Phone Line, L BB and basic TV for £26.99
I called up and was offered Phone Line, XXL Broadband, XL TV, V+ HD Box for free, no installation and no £20 connection fee for £60 a month.
What do you think?0 -

Out of contract.......been paying £24.49 per month for 10GB BB and phone line.
I recently cancelled the phoneline, to leave just the BB running.
While I've been waiting for my phoneline to cancel, they've phoned me up and offered me the same package (10GB bb and phoneline) for £15.95 per month, which would require a new 12 month contract. I still refused as I want to ditch the phoneline anyway, but it was an ok offer.0 -

Just been on the phone to VM. Currently I've got:
Line Rental £11.99
Talk Unlimited £7.95
Phone, Bband L & TV M Saving £-10.00
TV Size: M £0.00
V+ HD Box £5.00
Broadband Size: L £25.00
total £39.94/month
With some harsh negotiating the best they could offer me for the same package was £35.44 - with a 12 month minimum contract.
Decided to put 30 day notice on the account as this is still £10/month more than I was paying previously (£25/month).
What's the likelihood of them phoning back with a better offer in a couple of weeks time? I don't really want to have to leave VM, so I'm hoping they will!0 -
Out of interest, how much will this reduce your monthly bill?
The BB on its own is supposed to be £20 (without a new contract).
However I'm confident on haggling it down to £15 max....I hope even less.
They wont agree to a reduced monthly amount, but I'll ask them for a bill credit as a goodwill gesture to keep me.0
