Is there really a cancellation fee to suspend the BB service with Virgin if thats all you have with them?

I know when I signed up with then it was a minimum 12 months contract. If yyours is the same and you have had it less than a year then no doubt they will want some money.

Earlier today I rang them and got mine reduced from £18 pcm to £10pcm just by pointing out that I was a bit fed up with getting offers through my door which were ostensibly for new customers. I said can I have the same offer or do I need to shop around now my 12 months is up. Immediately they cut my bill!

Good luck to you - give it a go yourself tomorrow and see what happens

  • Well i signed up to telewest on 12 month contract, £30 a month for 2mb bb, phone (free eve and wkends) and very basic tv package. Lost Sky one when virgin media took over. Had to cancel the contract in June as i'm part of a student household and no one was going to be at home using any of them over summer.
They charged me £49 to disconnect early from my contract, but stated that if I re-connected with them again come september, they would refund the charge. I'm hoping that if I phone them in the next few weeks saying how disappointed with their service over the year and the lack of student services available, we might get a cheaper deal.

What's the cheapest possible deal around right now? I'm wanting bb and phone. Hopefully a freeview box i've got at home will cover the telly side of things.

    Thanks!

I am currently on the following:

    TV: XL
    Broadband: L
    Phone: L

    For £35 or £36 a month.

How much extra are they likely to charge me if I upgrade the broadband to XL?

    This is a excellent thread!:)
after being inspired to try and pay off my mortgage early on the debt free wanna be threads i decided to call ntl:)

after 30mins on hold lol was a busy evening yesterday! i got through 2 customer services, asked about cancelling my tv and telephone so i could have just broadband.
well they then transfered me to cancellations.
guy way really good!:) told him i needed to reduce my monthly bill, was on 3 for £30 plus mobile for £10 pcm.
he said just broadband is £18! but then said if i keep telephone with 24/7 free calls 2 landlines and have freeview tv plus broadband its only £19!:):rotfl:

I am so glad i called because now, even though its only £10 i have saved it will go a long way :) plus i was paying for tv channels i hardly watch!:)

definately call them its worth it!:D

Im currently with Telewest/VM, I have

    Talk unlimited phone
    Call ID
    TV XL
    additional standard box
    broadband size L

I was paying £77.70 month, phoned and complained and they reduced it to £67.20.

If i sign a new 12 month contract they can let me have it for £51 or £53 with XL broadband. Not sure about being tied to them for another year due to the horror stories ive heard since the switch to VM. Should I be trying for a better deal on my current contract or switching to another provider.

I've been a NTL/VM customer for 5 years now. I just been onto them as I'm paying £55 pcm for size XL TV, size M Broadband (2Mb) and size L phone (free eve & wknd calls).

My wife rang first and was told "no deals, do you want cutting off now"! I rang 20 minutes later, having spoken to Sky to get some comparable prices and, hey-presto(!), VM have given me the same deal I have now but with size L broadband (4Mb) for £35 pcm. That's a saving of £240 per year. If you are a NTL/VM customer there is nothing to lose in trying to get a better deal ...

My flatmate used to pay for Virgin (Sport, BB & Phone) but has now moved out. I think he was paying around £55 per month. I'm gonna call them tonight and see if I can get that down to £35.

Should I just ask to go thru to 'disconnections' and then hit them with the Sky price & see if they can match or better it ? Any tips gratefully received !

If it isn't an account in your name they may not even talk to you about it
