Phoned them up to review my deal since the takeover. After 40min wait....
Was on 4Mb BB & Talk Unlimited 24 for £18pm
Now on permanent 2mb BB (note no noticable difference with downloads as downloader bandwidth seems to be around 500kb/sec) regardless. £18PM
Talk Unlimted 24 & Virgin mobile (Call mobiles from landline cheaply) & Virgin Overseas (Call overseas cheaply ie spain in daytime for 2p/min) for £1.95
Total £19.95pm forevermore or until Branson changes his mind.
I think thats quite a good deal; do you ?
PS Apparently bandwidth upgrades are in the pipeline but cannot tell me anything till june to avoid call centre getting swamped.
Oh well, looks like i'll have to phone up and renegotiate in 3 months afterall !"Didn't I try to Warn them I said !"

I waited 30 mins on hold this morning, got through to a guy who offered me the following deals after I expressed my extreme disgruntlement
either
Broadband M
Phone M
TV L
for £24 a month
or
TV XL
phone M
Broadband M
V+ and free install
One off £17.50 customer care credit so I could watch a few free films
for £34 a month. I went for that one.
I feel more gruntled now.0 -
I phoned up today to try and get a better deal for my nan, but the retentions lady was having none of it, repeatedly stating my nan was receiving an amazing discount of £8.50 already!! Well, not that great if you ask me, she has been with telewest for 10 years!!"I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0

Good tactic is, if you don't get right helpful person, just phone back day or two later & try again. The deal you get off one Retentions person can be completely different to another.

You're paying £19.95/month instead of £18/month, but have downgraded to 2Mb Broadband !!?? The discounts to mobile & international calls are useful as long as you use them (but only cost £1.50/month each anyway).
Bandwidth/speed upgrades are great as long as NTL/Virgin network can cope.
My area suffers from SEVERE Congestion at peak times, which you seem to suffer from if your speed is 500Kb/s regardless.

I know my uncle also has a box, but I'm not sure if the two bills are connected? He has movies and also sky sports.
Total to pay per month is £57 odd. My nan doesn't want to use direct debit so also incurs the £5 per month charge."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0
