I would like some guidance from you avid money savers plz.
I was with NTL and have been reading about all this money saving so thought right, ill call them! Bill in hand i rang 150 and said id had a 6 month discount that had now expired, i'd waited to see what happened with the new Virgin Media sky 1 loss, sky sports news etc and here i was back to see what they could offer me..........

I was told - sorry you allready receive an £11 discount thats the best we can do. I now realise i need to call retentions but wondering if anyone had the same packs as me and what they negotiated or if anyone has any idea what is a good deal...??

(oh they cud offer me the full monty pack for £85 which wud give me talk unlimited anytime including international and upgrade B/Band to 10 MB V+hd and a virgin sim card - i think thats right but she reeled it all off so quick!)

My current package details are as follows(this is off my last bill)
    Line Rental £11.00
Talk unlimited £5.50 (eves and weekends)
    TU 4MB & Family saving -£11.00
    Family pack £19.50
    Movies4, movies5, sports 1&3 £24.50
    sports 2&3
    Unlimited 4MB £24.99
    Grand total £74.49

Last september I managed to get Talk 400 for £17.00 instead of £28.00, 4MB Broadband for £18.00 instead of £25 and XL TV for £21.00 but after discount and goodwill gesture I have been paying £58.00 for the last 6 months, when I rang disconnections they have now swapped me to Talk unlimited (£25.00) XL Tv (£20.50) 4MB Broadband (£25.00) all for £29.45/month.... keep ringing and say your going to go to sky unless they can negotiate a better price for the same package.

I phoned up earlier. Been on 4MB broadband for around 4 years paying £25 a month. Never once thought about phoning.

Phoned today and all they could do was knock off £8 a month for 12 months because I'm soely a broadband customer (apparently they can't do deals for just broadband people)...

It still leaves me annoyed because I wanted to get the broadband down to at least £15. I asked about phones and stuff and she was trying to sell me packages but they were all expensive and it was worth keeping BT.

Happy I'm saving, but then again not too chuffed they don't care about a long term Broadband customer...

Has anyone else who just has broadband phoned up since the change to virgin media? Are they no longer offering half price broadband?

I've never had half price Broadband with them, just £29 > £25 since I started the service.

And no I'm trying to find people with just 4MB broadband but it seems everyone has money to burn on fancy cable telly ;)

I have had just 10mb broadband for £17.50 since August (using VOIP for phone), I keep having to phone them to make sure they apply it every 3 months. Will probably need to phone them again in April, hope they honour my offer as I was told I could have it for 12 months

I know I can't believe how much you guys all spend on TV :D even after discounts
  • I spoke to them in February 2006 and got 12 months at £12.50 per month @ 2MB.
Now looking for Digital TV, telephone and broadband deal as my Freeview Pace box has stopped working.
