Glad I could help mortishian! In the end I found + bought an even better deal! Walked into my local Staples in a last chance effort and found a Fujitsu Siemens "Amilo Li 2735" Core 2 Duo! 2GB RAM and 160GB Hard Drive, WiFi, DVDRW, 15.4" 'BrilliantView' Widescreen, Vista Home Premium weighing in at 2.7kg!

Including extra mouse + laptop bag all for £329.99!

While the Staples manager was still serving me I asked him about the prices in PC World and he said in the past they would always just undercut them but nowadays they seem to be widening the price gap.

    Hey guys,

Though not a massive fan, Dell have quite a reasonable offer on Vostro Laptops at the moment...

£282 delivered will get you a:
    Dual core celeron laptop
    4gig ram
    160?~ gig hdd

Worth checking out for those on a budget

Think this is a better deal than any of them but you must order today! From another thread here

I went for a Dell Vostro 1510, 15.4" widescreen, dual core pentium (not celeron), 2Gb RAM, 250Gb HD, wireless, webcam, bluetooth, DVD writer, Vista Home Premium, 1 year next day onsite support. Total £353 plus 5% quidco. This is from the Dell Business store.

The reviews and pictures all imply it has a card reader built in but its not listed in the specs.

For this model there is currently £50 off plus free delivery and a 10% code which expires today so get in quick if you;re interested! Incidentally the 'base' model without webcam or bluetooth was only £316 (plus quidco) which is a great price for this spec.

    The code is:

    10% off All vostro notebooks
    GLTV1QH8DCMLWF

    (found on hotdealsuk).

Hope you managed to get in. Just confirmed that my Quidco of £15 has been validated so total cost was £338 all in.
  • Hi

I've been offered the Studio 1535 through work which they are saying is £600 but due to a tech refresh the company is doing we can buy at £411. I've looked to price match but it appears these are not yet available for sale. I need it for my wife, just home use really, internet browsing etc.

Is it worth buying or going for a cheaper model? Should I buy as it should last a few years and maybe be good for the kids homework in 4-5 years?

    15.4 widescreen
    120GB hard drive
    Intel core duo T5750
    Memory dual channel 2048mb
    MS Works 9
    Vista home basic

I can get camera and bluetooth for an extra £32.50, does this mean it doesn't have a built in webcam
or for £87.50 get the cam, blue 4gb ram, and vista premium.

    Any help appreciated.

Sounds like it's more expensive than a Dell Vostro 1510 (and lower spec)

I just bought a core 2 duo, (1.8ghz), 250gb hd, 15.4", 2gb ram, vista home premium for £316 inc vat and postage. The webcam built in was only an extra £20. Normal price for this is £350ish.
    Have a nice day. :)
