Support/Reliability. Over past seven years, my household has bought three Dell desktops (no problems at all) and a Dell laptop. Have just ordered another Dell laptop.
The original laptop, bought in 2004, went wrong last year, just inside the warranty. The CD drive stopped recording. They sent new CD drive and it was missing the front plate. Sent another one and was also missing the front plate. Assured me the next time it would be correct....what if its not....it will be....what if its not.......it will be......what if its not......OK we'll give you a new laptop. Currently posting using said new laptop.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
After doing research (well reading threads on here & a trip to PC world) I think I have plumped for the following -

ok I have been very bad,
we went to pcworld for the acer but i could tell daughter did not like it, could not find anything in pc world so in the end we went to staples where we saw the Toshiba A300, it has good specs, intel duo2, 2ghz,3gb ram, 250hd but was £499 with 12 months warranty, in the end i bought it from john lewis with a 2 year warranty,
i was going to buy a £50 warranty for the £399 acer anyway, so only £50 more really. she does love it and i am jealous and i want one myself now lol0 -

Hi, any help greatly appreciated. I'm looking for a laptop, nothing too fancy, mainly for web browsing, mp3s, pics, bit of office stuff. I want a decent speed as I'm impatient but it's basically a desk top replacement for space saving.
I found these on Tesco Direct
HP G60 116EM QL-60 3GB 250GB 15.6" £399
Toshiba A300-13X TL-60 2GB 200GB 15.4" £399
Toshiba Equium P300-16T 17" £399

Anyone recommend any of the above or think it a good (especially if a further 10% off)/poor deal?
Thanks.0 -
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, from John Lewis at £379 and it's great. I've downloaded loads of software and uploaded loads of photos and videos and still working well.0
