Heinz Farley's Baby Milk Discontinued!

• So Hipp are just as bad as the rest really. After an initial increase from £4.40 to £4.80 when the new Heinz was launched they have now gone even further and Hipp currently stands at £5.50. So now there is NO baby milk under a fiver. I'm really steaming about all of this. They can make all the excuses in the world but honestly there is no way they can justify what has gone on recently. It is blatant greed and clearly a co-ordinated move by the manufacturers to maximise their profits. I believe I'm a good person generally but I'm starting to have serious debate with myself as to whether or not stealing can ever be justified because let's face it, that's what they are doing from us. Two wrongs don't make a right I know but seeing as nobody is fighting our corner, I'm thinking for the first time, it's time to fight my own.

Also I don't want to steer this thread back off topic but to those arguing for breast milk I wonder if they could enlighten me as to how, being a man, I can possibly breastfeed my children? Due to simple economics my wife is the one who has to work whilst I raise the kids and due to her mean employer we could only afford for her to take 8 weeks maternity leave. I'm not complaining but I know I'm not alone here. Do you suggest she express pumps several gallons of breast milk each morning before going to work?!!! It's not just women that feed the baby these days you know. Also the whole breast is best thing is a nonsense. I have 3 children who all fed on formula milk from day one and they are all the epitomy of strong, healthy children.

And another thing, how come people on here are prepared to just dismiss this as part of the supermarket increases we are seeing and why has this country been so apathetic to the increases? Sure some of the increases are justified but also the supermarkets are really taking the p*ss in a lot of cases. For instance in my local asda they have deleted a lot of their smart price lines. This is quite deliberate and at a time when people need to make sacrifices in some of their shopping items to keep costs down this is just another kick in the balls. In the meantime these huge chains continue to make profits in the millions and billions each year. Given the circumstances you would hope that the supermarkets would absorb some of the extra costs themselves but no, not a bit of it, it would seem that they are passing the entire bill on to their loyal customers at the moment. Worse than that, complaining achieves absolutely nothing.

I feel like doing a V for Vendetta at the moment. I'm bloody sick of it.

There are still a lot of ppl pee'd off about this. If you are, please continue to pester them.

An easy way is to complain via this link,

As I said earlier, they pulled a similar stunt some time ago (changed the packaging so you got less milk in it or something) and they backed down after bad reviews and complaints.

If you can't afford it, then why have a child, or children, in the first place?

I am amazed that some people on here struggle to afford the basics.

One reason I have decided not to have children yet, and may never, is because of the cost. That, and I have a stoma so couldn't do some of the things other parents take for granted.

Whilst I sympathise to a degree, it isn't rocket science. Children cost plenty of money in the early years - always have, always will.

That doesn't mean companies like Heinz can rip us off by doubling the price of their milk!

Exactly.

Stupid post by daveboy. You do realise that there are many, many people without children struggling with the basics like food and energy at the moment don't you?

We are being taken for a ride and have every right to complain about it.

I agree, a ridiculous statement by daveboy. There is never the 'perfect' time to have a baby. I waited till my 30s, so I am more financially secure; But consequently feel like my body is about to give up on me. Whereas, a 20 something may have no health problems at all-yet have little cash.

I saved a few grand (before getting pregnant) towards the extra costs of our baby, but it doesn't give supermarkets the right to help themselves to those funds!

PS good for you Paul Andrew, nice to see a modern man on here!

I'm a midwife and my main concern about this is that we will end up with babies not feeding properly because mothers will be watering down the milk too much out of necessity of not being able to afford to buy more. I look after many women on very low incomes and even with Healthy Start vouchers etc they won't be able to take price increases like this. How dreadful that what we are campaigning against in the developing world with Nestle may well come to fruition in this country...
• Hi there, would be interested to pay and collect the farley milk in manchester as i live in manchester and my daughter adapts very much to this milk. Appreciate if you could send me and ur address, : ( mybenno@yahoo.co.uk).

Many Thanks

Haresh

hey just been reading about the farleys, well when my son was born i attempted to start him on farleys and stocked up, but weeks later had too change too cow and gate as his tummy did not like it.

so i have a few tins in my pantry of the 1st milk. thik i should put them on ebay buy it now for £3 each! if anyone wants them, plus could collect from manchester.

but i think its a joke, lie you lot said the hipp one is not too bad, but it means swapping milks and thats just not fair! babies get attatched too there brand, just like we all love our fav brand of teabags and others just 'don't taste right!'

anyways just thought i would voice my thoughts. every month i recieve 12 ilk tokens then i buy bulk load of milk, i have twins and it ends up i pay £37!! imagine if i had no tokens! wow i would be bankrupt!
the poud shop should sell it!! lol
• hi every1. i also used farleys, for both my daughters, my first had a reaction to all milk branks except farleys, and therefore was the reason for my choice for my second. i had no problems atall with my second. hence the reason i decided to used it again for my third (currently pregnant), so you could imagine my anger when i realised it was no longer. i am planning to breastfeed if i can, but i wanted to get farleys in just incase i couldnt manage a third time.
im now very worried about what milk i am going to use as i had such a bad time with my first baby.
i will continue to try and find shops that still have some and will also contact someone on the number above. :(
