cb i think u will find that all mothers on here know that breast is best. if only it was that simple. i fell bad enough about not being able to breastfeed
my baby wihthout u laying a guilt trip on. she is tonguetied and and i was very engorged so it was impossible for us though i perservered for a week.

yes heinz are allowed to charge what they want but what we are most disappointed in is that we were misled to believe that it was a simple name change when in fact the product was discontinued and replaced.

if i change milk now my 7 weeks olds stomach would be highly upset. i cannot afford the new nurture ( and please no lectures about if you cant afford to feed ur baby dont have one) so i have went out and bought enough farleys in bulk to do me for 4 months. i care aobut my daughter and do not want to upset her system, just as you should have some consideration for other parents out there b4 u go around criticising them.

i dont think it is pointless informing other parents that farleys has increased in price nearly £4 per tin as it is a money saving board. i am sure everyone here who has complained to farleys and written to watchdog just want a decent response form heinz and why they have suddenly turned around from their "xcommitment to fair price" policy.

dont feel bad, the comment is written by a small minded creature, who
    a. is still beng breast fed
    or
    b. has never encountered parent hood so likes to preach !!

I'd imagine both, and probably will never get the opportunity of b !

remember you carried that baby and did a fabby and wonderful job ! (((Hugs))))

have you checked out your local lidl for stocks too ?

    no problem any time.

however moaning about something, that i'm pretty sure that MSE doesn't own is pretty pointless.

i think Heinz are allowed to charge whatever they want for their product unless there's a new law out there that just affects baby milk???

There are A LOT of laws governing the marketing and sale of baby milk.

So why are you commenting when you evidently know nothing about them?

I just found some at my local tesco's. there were 4 on the shelf so I asked if they had any more and they did so in the end I brought 12, that should get my 6 month old a bit closer to cow's milk. Just wondering if anyone had asked even if they hadn't seen them on the shelf. I was lucky cos I used my healthy start vouchers so got the lot for under £20. This will also help now as I got a part-time job so I will no longer get these vouchers.

This kind of behaviour reinforces my belief more than ever that we should go toward Sweden, where formula is available on prescription only. This means no adverts that give false impressions/information and it completely swipes away the power from the companies price-wise, because you wouldn't be paying for the milk at all! Mothers would get far more support with breastfeeding in the first place and babies who did require formula would be prescribed one most likely to fit their needs.

I don't disagree with you, but what about a womans right to choose? we all know that breast is best, and a lot of women (including myself) do attempt with breastfeeding but it doesnt happen for one reason or another. also, some women just dont want to breastfeed- that is their choice at the end of the day.

if baby milk is only available on prescription only you are effectivly taking away the choice, and women will be forced to try and do something that they may not want to/cant do.

if people choose to feed their baby formula that is up to them- at the end of the day it is them that are paying for it

not having a go at you, just giving my opinion :D

oh, and i agree with you that the formula companies are only interested in money- same as all the other companies out there- you must have this that and the other as it is best for your baby etc etc

My daughter would of died without formula, I didn't produce enough milk-I tried for 2 weeks, just how is it helpful to make stupid uneducated comments like that?

Same situation here, totally agree with your comment.

If heinz put the price up by pence it would be understandable with the price of fuel etc going up but by pounds is plain greed. Its the last thing parents need, with everything else going up. I'm one of the lucky few whose son has a strong stomach & doesnt mind other types of powdered milk, so it looks like heinz have lost a customer, maybe they'll feel the blow when a few other parents to be decide to go for a different, fairer priced make.

Formula companies are interested in money, not babies. It's quite awful to to do this and not make it quite clear what they are doing; a change of formula can cause stomach upsets in younger infants.

This kind of behaviour reinforces my belief more than ever that we should go toward Sweden, where formula is available on prescription only. This means no adverts that give false impressions/information and it completely swipes away the power from the companies price-wise, because you wouldn't be paying for the milk at all! I fully agree with this point and don't understand how anyone could argue about the right to chose how to feed your baby. You still get the right to bottle feed but this way mothers would get far more support with either feeding method - in fact evidence suggests that bottle fed babies really should be monitored more anyway as they are far more likely to suffer from obesity later, whether because of the inferiority of the milk or because it is far easier to overfeed a bottle fed baby. So it's not just breastfeeding mums who need the support and advice!

Secondly, while I sympathise that something considered essential is going up in price, unfortunately this is the same for loads of things today - bread, milk etc.

i didn't say you were bad mums, did i?

no need to get defensive and if you have underlying guilt issues not my problem.

however Heinz have a right to charge whatever they feel is acceptable.

so if you don't like it/can't afford it, you have to go and buy something else.

is it profiteering? of course it is, they're a business not a charity.

so use you're pent up energy on finding a suitable replacement.

i don't like the way ALL groceries, fuel bills, mortgage bills have gone up but that's life and you've got to get on with it.

also makes me laugh at the stockpiling of these tins, you can't afford an extra £3 per tin, but can afford to buy like 10 tins in one hit!

also meaning you're potentially putting all these other babies at risk who's parents trully can't afford to buy 1 or 2 tins at a time.
