Sorry, Donny-Gal - you confused me but that's not in the least bit difficult! You will not be enjoying our lovely weather for another two weeks, then?
Pippad - what a gorgeous baby! Congratulations!
Well, I've had a shower and a quick clean round the house; I'd left it tidy so there isn't much to do. I have some ironing, some paperwork and I need to pop out to get some milk but there's no hope of a break in the weather, by the looks of it. June was the worst June I had even known and now July is shaping up to be the worst July - perhaps we'll get a bit of summer in August? I've had to dig the clothes-airer out to get the washing dry but I don't want to put the heating on so it'll just have to air-dry over the next day or two. It's only me here at the moment so I don't know how those of you with children are coping with getting the washing dry.
I noticed Gordon Brown telling us not to waste food! He's talking to the wrong people, here, isn't he? I bet the House of Commons restaurants (subsidised, of course, by us) don't waste food, eh? Yeah, right! Surely, too, they could have had a G8 summit by video-conferencing instead of flying heaven knows how many people to Japan? Just think of all the aviation fuel that has used up and all the luxury food they will be scoffing there, on our behalf!
Anyway, back to reality - I don't intend to waste any food today or any other day, if I can help it. We took a load of food away on our hen weekend but we each bought back the leftovers of the bits we had taken and, because my companions were mostly youngsters in their twenties, they went home with a few money-saving tips and an advertisement for MSE! Hopefully, a few more recruits to the cause, there!
Anyway, off to do something useful. See you all later. Don't hold your breath but it has actually stopped raining here!

Morning Everyone
Welcome back all who have been away :hello:
Am using the old pc this morning, the screen and the writing all looks so big.The reason for this is once again I am using the laptop to try to copy OH's old camcorder tapes onto DVD. As we have a new camcorder now we want to ebay the old one, but there would be no way of watching the tapes once we do. I do think this is beyond the call of duty though as most are of holidays with his ex  but obviously he wants to keep them as his DD is on them, also a lot of his DD's school plays. Might have to pop over to the techie board for advice as it keeps stopping
OH thinks he will be out all week, so thats my meal plan binned then:rotfl:
might make up a big pot of chilli and curry, he doesn't eat either of these so it makes a lot of HM ready meals for me. Apart from that just the usual cleaning and job searching to do.
PS - can't do the thanks button on this pc for some reason
whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Morning all,
just checking in quick for now, will do a proper post later. Builder came at 8 to fix the leak (so no water cascading through downstairs ceiling now...), and now have carpet fitters doing my bedroom & stairs. Chrisca, I have just changed from lilac which I've had for 8 years & gone to creams, but with touches of toffee
& a new bedding set from Matalan that has got those colours & also a touch of sage green. It will look really fresh & pretty without being too "girly" if you know what I mean?!
Still feeling frazzled as its been a stressful few days, but will find time when things quieten down later to read the threads properly & catch up on the news.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

Good morning all!
Woke to dreadful rain hammering against the window, but seems to have eased off now, can even see some rays of sun!
DW, WM, BM, SC full of veg casserole, all doing their thing. Feel very virtuous now! Just need to have a quick hoover and do a spot of ironing. Nothing much else planned today, gentle pottering I think, oh and some more of Twink's hobnobs. Back to w**k tonight, boo hiss! Ah well, guess it pays the bills - well it helps anyway!
And just in case Mr Brown decides to flick through OS chat, I am using up leftover veg from yesterday's roast in the casserole - no waste here!
Hope everyone has a lovely day xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Hoping my Panny will be delivered today and that DH does not answer the door!!!
Would like a trip to our local Tesco but do not want to miss a delivery.
Thought I might cook some chicken thighs in the slow cooker then strip off the meat to make either chicken pasta or a chow mein for tonight.
If panny does arrive today then cannot wait to make a loaf in it. I really resent paying £1.29 for a branded loaf! It works out at about £10 a week just for bread!
Has anyone else noticed that no matter where you go now for packaged branded bread it always seems a bit stale, despite the date on the packaging?
I am really fuming about Gordon Brown's suggesting that rising food prices are all the fault of people who throw things away or else use buy three for price of two offers.
I suppose rising fuel prices and growing food as a fuel crop is all our fault too!
I wonder just how much food is wasted at official buffets etc?
Hugs to everyone especially, Smoky, Twink, kyle, penny pincher, candygirl,MRSM and anniestar.
Extra hug for anyone I haveforgotten and could do with one.
Thought this might make you smile - I was on my local freecycle today and someone was asking for a breadmaker as she wanted to make wholemeal bread- which was fair enough - but she specified she wanted a Panansonic!!!!!
I have wanted a panansonic for four years but made do with the MR to see if I would use a BM and only finally ordered one as it was in the Amazon sale."This site is addictive!"

Just to put Mr Brown's mind at rest I will be using up two cracked eggs that have stuck to the box as Scotch pancakes or french toast and the leftover couple of potatoes from yesterday will either go in an omelette or some home made soup.
The brand new bread that does not seem "fresh" will make toast or french toast etc."This site is addictive!"

Ooh, woke up really not wanting to go to work today. 38 days left of work till maternity leave. Can't wait. 5.30am is not a good time to be getting up and I really didn't sleep well last night. Bump is starting to get in the way. Woke up half on my belly. Hope I'm not squashing the little thing! Getting major problems with my back and shooting pains in my leg/bum. Sitting all day at work is not helping. It's only when I try standing that my leg hurts, so can't decide if it's best to sit for as long as possible, or if that is building up for trouble.
Was very impressed with bf yesterday as he made dinner. It was only omelettes, no big Sunday roast, but he doesn't normally offer to make dinner.
I've decided that I can't keep up with threads, so will do me best at remembering people. Don't really come online at the weekend, so will have to leave them threads as I need to pretend to do some work today!
Snowyowl & Stefejb – re the wine and coffee posts on Friday. At least the joys of being pregnant mean I am deprived from such woes.
Was a little OS proactive over the weekend. Getting there slowly. Cleaned out the pet cupboard and the tupperware cupboard as they were both overspilling and bf was getting annoyed with boxes of dog biscuits on the counter. Can't believe how many containers I have! But they all come in useful to go in the freezer for my OS meals.
Also made a banana as there were two overripe banans in the bowl. Had to go out and buy more bananas for it and mixed nuts, so not sure if it counts as OS or not. But it sure is tasty.
Also made Hobnobs, so we have snacks for the week anyhows.
Dinner on Friday was homemade goulash which had been taken out of the freezer along with hm bread.
Sat was a treat to the pub, but £17 for two hamburgers! Lordie. My dad gave me £20, so I suppose it was free, but still!!
Yesterday was omelettes, courtesy of bf. Thanks hon!
Today we are having cordon bleu which were bought from Lidl with mash and mixed veg.
Rchddap1 – I made jam once out of strawberries in the back garden. They were everywhere when we moved in, so we took advantage. I ended up with so much I was giving it away. But it was fun and I would love to do it again.
Poppyoscar – invest in a cat flap. I wouldn't be without one, she can do what she likes. All day yesterday, she was on stakeout in the kitchen looking under the fridge. Got a feeling she brought in a mouse, dropped it, and it quickly got out of her way.
Essex girl – Good luck in finding your cat. I've had quite a few cats who go away on holiday for a few days and then turn up as if nothing has happened. Honestly, don't they realise we worry?!
Pippad – aww, I have a lot to look forward to when mine makes an appearance!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Essex girl - hope your cat is okay, as everyone has said, she's probably just taken shelter, my daft pair both took one look at the rain and headed outside for the night! Will have to start keeping Maisie in soon, as I'm sure it can't be long before she has these kittens!
Sunnyday - shame about your bread, our local Asda still has the Doves Farm flour at the reduced price it was ages ago, 54p or 74p, not sure which! It's not in the normal home baking section, but with the gluten free ingredients and specialist stuff.
Candygirl - good luck with the job hunting, would it be possible to do some tutoring if you can't find anything suitable, I know that round here tutors are in great demand - bizarre cos the schools are meant to be really good! It seems that many of the local kids have tutors almost from the time they start school, and the good ones do a lot of business through word of mouth and seem to have waiting lists.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
