boddy I've not had a firewall on for months, got sick of it causing issues, hope you are ok

Soappie, I don't know what I'd do, I remember when an ex contacted me I was in shock for 2 days, I did reply, but just kept it polite, short and then let him drift back off. Has he kept in touch with your son?

***ooops I shouldn't be here, back at 21.45....**

No, no contact with any of us. Maintenance was paid by him up until DS was 16 (if I recall correctly) via a court order so the cheque came in the post. No contact nothing. With any of us. I think I last saw his parents about 18 years ago. But nothing from them either since. To any of us.

AnneL - I have no plan, I don't know what to plan. I don't know what to imagine. For once (and this would shock them at work!) I am speechless!!!

I really need to go to find something to eat. I am supposed to be doing a barbeque for a dozen people tomorrow night.

I don't quite know where my feet or my world is at this moment in time.

I think I need to find some food and some alcohol - but not necessarily in that order....

Soappie, first thing I'd do is sleep on it and then think about it after the initial shock has worn off.
Oh and have a drink, that helps!
My boys dad suddenly got in touch 2 months ago after 5 years of nothing and then came to visit them for the day.....
Must say I was very proud of myself for staying calm and friendly when I REALLY wanted to shout and scream and tell him what an a**e he is for ignoring his kids for 5 years (and wasn't much better the 2 years before that!) So I sympathise with your bafflement of the situation

    OMG OMG OMG.

I'm in shock and in a bit of a quandry. I need advice ladies.
My first ex-husband, who is the father of my DS, who I haven't seen or heard of for nigh on 25 years has just got in touch with me through Friends Reunited.

    What do I do?
    Do I ignore?
Do I respond - if so, how? " You dirty rotten b*stard...." "Hello how are you?"

All I know is I am currently in a state of slight shock and have no idea what to think. I have been transported back to my life 25+ years ago with good memories and bad memories. I have spoken to DS about it and shown him the contact email and he's cool with whatever I choose to do.

But, I don't know what to do!!!!!

    HELLLP!!

    OMG!!!!

What on earth did he say to you? 'Hi, long time no speak?'

Something along the lines of "it's good to see you're doing well". He's probably picked up my latest surname from friends reunited (long story!) done a google search and found out various things about me and my company and various press articles along the way.

Soappie - Would 'Hello, do I know you?' do?

I would just be polite and say Hello. Probably. But only after typing what I really wanted to say and then deleting it.

I have been frantically busy since yesterday morning, and didn't even have the time to edit the post for typos. DS1 has been safely plastered in bright blue. He was offered glitter, but declined. Strange boy. I'd have thought a bit of glitter would have gone down well at the pub tonight. Apparentely he has chipped the bone on the side of the wrist under his little finger, and fractured the one under the thumb.

We went to sports afternoon, and had a lovely time, and DS1 got a lot of comments and enquiries! DS2 did well, he was first in hurdles, 4th I think in high jump, and I cannot remember all the races, but he did okay, but not brilliantly. Which is absolutely fine by me. I then spent most of the evening on the phone to my sister catching up on all the news. I even did the bathroom to Level 3.

Today I have managed to do a bit in the master bedroom, and also had a day's supply, which went well. I wasn't too pleased though to find I had only been paid for one day instead of two last week. I'm now rather short of money this week! I also messed up my bank balance the last few weeks, and ended up with three charges total £96 when I went £11 over my limit overnight. I shall be writing a begging letter to see if I can get those back. I have been so good for years now, and just got that completely wrong!

michelle - glad you're feeling better today. I'm trying to remember what I did with mine. I'm pretty sure that I bathed the baby in the morning, and then the older one in the evening. DS1 was 21 months when I had DD, then DD was 25 months when I had DS2. I cannot recollect how I managed with all three. I think I was just exhausted all the time! The mobile sounds like a great idea!

hex - I would have chosen the bathroom too. How about a gite in France? They do all sorts of special offers in the halfterms.
